MORE BOOKS IN THIS SERIES

Hi dear Dana! Welcome back to the blog!

Dana: I would say that 90% of the time I would pick music. I love that there is always a song that will fit my mood. I have discovered the joy of making playlists to fit moods or books I’m working on. As far as audiobooks go, I enjoy them on occasion. My main issue with an audiobook is when the narrator’s voice is vastly different from the voice I hear in my head as a read. It can be rather jarring.

Carrie: Same here!

Dana: Pepsi. Always Pepsi, regardless of whether it’s diet, cherry or another variety, I always prefer Pepsi.

Carrie: Now I will say that I do like Wild Cherry Pepsi better than Cherry Coke … BUT otherwise Coca-Cola wins by a long shot over here. I still love you though haha 🙂

Dana: Sandwich, always. And I will usually order a sandwich with a salad rather than soup.

Carrie: It depends on what mood I’m in – I definitely have to be in the mood for either one.

Dana: Both. I love the feel of a book, but I also love carrying an entire library with me so I can read at will. My one pet peeve, though, is that if I’m reading a series, I want the whole series in the same format. If it’s print, the whole series has to be in either paperback or hardback and if ebook, the whole series has to be either on my Nook or on my Kindle app. I don’t like switching between books.

Carrie: oh that’s a good point!

Q: When you walk into a bookstore, where do you head first?

Dana: Where I go first is completely controlled by my current mood. Usually, I check out the Christian fiction first. But I have also been known to start with the Young Adult, science fiction or the romance section. And if I’m there to write, I will head to the café and grab an iced tea before settling in to write.

Carrie: You can’t really go wrong, no matter where you head first 🙂

Q: Writing spaces are as diverse as authors and books. Where is your favorite space to write?

Dana: My absolutely favorite place to write is at my local Barnes and Noble. I usually start at the table right outside the café that is next to a large window. I can enjoy the sun, drink some delicious tea, and create. If I get tired, I can go browse for a few minutes, then return. If the table has been taken in my absence, I will move to the café and take a corner table. Never a table in the center of the room. I need my back to the wall.

Carrie: Plus you have all those books at your fingertips!

Q: Did you have the whole plot outlined before you started writing Amish Country Threats, or did you let the characters dictate what came next?

Dana: It was a little of both. When I began writing, I had only the first scene in my mind. By the time I was done with the 3rd chapter, the plot had filled out a little more. I didn’t have the whole plot completed, though I did have my hero and heroine, Levi and Lilah, figured out. Also, I tend to be more organic as I write. If something in my outline doesn’t feel right, I give myself the freedom to follow a new direction. For example, near the halfway point in the book, I realized that the original villain wouldn’t work, so I switched.

Carrie: oh that’s interesting!

Thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.

Dana: You’re welcome! I enjoyed it. As for what’s coming next, I am gearing up for the release of the next two books, Covert Amish Investigation and Amish Christmas Escape, which will feature Levi’s brothers. I am currently writing Love Inspired Suspense that will release in 2022.

Carrie: yay!

It is interesting that the author changed the villain halfway through writing the book. Is the original villain still in the story?
