Three Great Things: July 2021

Posted August 1, 2021 by meezcarrie in giveaway, Three Great Things / 27 Comments

How is school starting tomorrow here in Georgia? Where did July go? Is anyone else feeling like they blinked and missed it? At any rate, the end of the month means it’s time for another Three Great Things post, the new blog series I started in January. It’s easy these days to get discouraged by all the infighting and anxiety in the world right now. But there ARE great things still going on out there, if we just stop to appreciate them. So that’s what I want to do this month & every month – even just to keep my own focus on the good things God’s allowed me to experience. So here’s three great things I read, watched, listened to, and learned in July 2021!

three great things I read

oh man! this was super tough to narrow down because I’ve read a LOT of great books this past month. So I picked 3 from different genres.

three great things I watched

Reasonable Doubt season 4 finally arrived!! This is probably my favorite true crime show right now, and it’s something my husband and I look forward to watching every week.

I really like how they captured the heart of this song as well as the general aesthetics of the video for Home Free’s version of Born in the U.S.A.

I’m still thinking about this sermon and one idea in particular – Jesus was interruptable. Am I? That has been ruminating in my mind & heart ever since.

three great things I listened to

three great things I learned

-there will be a 4th Back Inn Time book from Stephenia H. McGee (yay!!)

-there’s a new Love Inspired imprint, specifically for cold case mysteries

-there’s a new Murder She Baked mystery movie on August 8th!

I am with you in the excitement for the new Murder She Baked mysteries. I really enjoy Joanne Fluke’s books. I have not been reading, listening to music, watching television or movies much this past month. I am grateful that my Mom was able to get out of the nursing home for an hour on Friday. She had a friend visit today. We are beginning to work on decluttering the house. Thank you for allowing me to share. God bless you.

I read 3 great books, Between the Wild Branches, The Secret Keepers of Old Depot Grocery, and Yours is the Night.

I’m not much of a listener or watcher (except for an occasional Audible), so I read some great books this month: Some Bright Someday by Melissa Tagg, The Secret Keepers of Old Depot Grocery by Amanda Cox, and I am reading Yours is the Night by Amanda Dykes (which is very good so far). I’m finding that I need to back off a bit on war novels, maybe only one a month. I read more than 3 this month and it was too much. The Amanda authors for the win this month!

    1. I watched the last season of Outlander and waiting for the next one. 2. I started watching a soap opera in Spanish which is really good (and it will be ending soon) 3. I am almost done reading Of Women and Salt which I started in June. Have a great week and stay safe.

Sadly, this was not a great reading month for me, but “A Haven for Her Heart” is in my ever-growing TBR pile. Hallmark’s Movies & Mysteries has me hooked on a few of their series…and a few new episodes this month!! 😍🤩🔍📸📖📽

I need to get caught up on Teresa Tysinger’s books! Three things I read that release on August 3 are Love and the Silver Lining by Tammy L. Gray, To Write a Wrong by Jen Turano, and Beyond the Tides by Liz Johnson. Plus, I’m about halfway through another–Yours is the Night by Amanda Dykes. They are all fantastic books!

  7. Faith Creech

I read The Triple Threat series of books by Lis Whiel. They were very good mysteries and I thoroughly enjoyed them. I know they are older books but still good. I taped Murder She Wrote and have been watching that! Love that series! Listened to my Hubbie preach and always love that!!

  8. I was traveling a lot so actually listened to audio books, which I never do!! So two books I listened to and enjoyed: Left at the Altar and The Escape by Lisa Harris. Read: Come Back to Me, Love and a little white lie, and Rose Among Thornes.
