State of Grace #1
GENRE: Inspirational Contemporary Romance
PUBLISHER: Bethany House
RELEASE DATE: August 4, 2020
PAGES: 342

January Sanders grew up believing karma was more reliable than an imaginary higher power, but after suffering her worst heartbreak in 29 years, she’s open to just about anything, including taking a temporary position at her aunt’s church. Keeping her lack of faith a secret, January is determined to use her photographic memory to help Grace Community’s overworked staff, all while scraping herself off rock bottom.

What she doesn’t count on is meeting the church’s handsome and charming guitarist, who not only is a strong believer, but has also dedicated his life to Christian music. It’s a match set for disaster, and yet January has no ability to stay away, even if it means pretending to have faith in a God she doesn’t believe in.

Only this time, keeping secrets isn’t as easy as she thought it would be. Especially when she’s constantly running into her aunt’s landscape architect, who seems to know everything about her past and present sins and makes no apologies about pushing her to deal with feelings she’d rather keep buried.

Torn between two worlds incapable of coexisting, can January find the healing that’s eluded her or will her resistance to the truth ruin any chance of happiness?

I asked the author…

What is one of your favorite quotes from Love and a Little White Lie & why do you love it?

“Prayer is not about changing your situation, although sometimes God grants those requests. It’s about changing your heart.”

This quote came from my heroine’s aunt, who was based on a mentor of mine. Her strength and wisdom has been a huge blessing to me and this was one of the lessons she really helped me see. So often we pray for God to “fix” something. We want something to begin or to stop. We want dreams fulfilled and challenges ended. And as Christians we get on our knees and pray for these things fully expecting answers. But the beauty of Christ is that the answer is rarely what we expect. And most important, God uses that surrender to change our heart and perspective. That is the real miracle of prayer. It’s also one of the foundational lessons in this book and why this quote is so special to me.

Tammy L. Gray (www.tammylgray.com) lives in the Dallas area with her family, and they love all things Texas. Her nine modern and true-to-life contemporary romances include the 2017 RITA Award-winning My Hope Next Door. When not taxiing her three kids to various events, Tammy can be spotted crunching numbers as the financial administrator at her hometown church.

I loved Tammy Gray’s Love and a Little White Lie! It is so good. I love how real and sincere her characters are. She doesn’t put a pretty face on Christianity. We aren’t perfect people, we just have a perfect Savior. This book was great and the next in the series, Love and the Silver Lining, is also a must read!

  2. Paty Hinojosa Gómez

I loved this story! The flawed characters, and the character’s growth -especially January-, and I loved how January discovers God through the way other christians -flawed too- live their faith. The message about trusting God with your future and how He can bring good out of suffering and bad things was beautiful. A touching book I throughly enjoyed!

  3. Angie Pool

This book has been recommended to me a lot!! I will try to find a copy and read it as it sounds really good!!

  4. Perrianne Askew

I’ve never read one of her books and her premise for this novel seems interesting. I really think that I would enjoy it.

I’ve already read it as well as the second in the series, Love and the Silver Lining. They were both wonderful. Tammy does an excellent job of developing the characters. I feel like I know them in real life.
