LOST DOWN DEEP
SERIES:
The Rose Tattoo Trilogy #1
GENRE: Inspirational Romantic Suspense
RELEASE DATE: March 27, 2020
PAGES: 346

She is the only one who can tell the police who attacked her in her home. If only she could remember …

Summer Velasquez is on the run from a man she has no recollection of after an attack she can’t recall.

Every face in the crowd is a potential suspect, so how is Summer supposed to know who is a threat to her and who isn’t?

After fleeing her assailant and the parents who lied to her about what happened, she changes her name and seeks refuge in Elora, Ontario. The small town feels familiar, although she has no memory of ever having been here. Even in what should be a safe place, she can’t shake the feeling that she is being watched.

When Ryan Taylor strolls into the Taste of Heaven Café where she works, Summer is immediately drawn to him. However, he may not be who he says he is either. As her suspicions grow, Summer prepares to run again.

But at least one person is determined to stop her. Permanently. And if she can’t remember who he is, this time he may succeed.

I asked the author…

What is one of your favorite quotes from Lost down deep & why do you love it?

Thank you so much for highlighting Lost Down Deep on your blog! The following is one of my favourite exchanges in the book, between Jude, the main character, and his older brother, Cash:

“If I ask them, it drives home the fact that I missed out on so much of their lives, which I don’t know how I’ll ever make up to them.”

Cash leaned a hip on the counter and contemplated him. “Something you’re going to have to figure out sooner or later, little brother, is that you can’t.”

Jude swung around, his hands dripping soapy water on the floor. “What do you mean, I can’t?”

“You lost five years with us, Jude. That’s time none of us can get back. What has been done in the past can’t be undone, no matter how much we’ve changed or what we do in the future.”

“So there’s nothing I can do to make up for it.”

“Nope. That’s what forgiveness is for.”

This excerpt is a favourite, not only because the relationship between brothers is one I love to explore and write about, but because this conversation captures the major theme of the story–forgiveness. Lost Down Deep is a prodigal son story of sorts, and like the wayward son did in the biblical story, Jude comes to see that, as deeply sorry as he is for abandoning his family, he can never make it up to them. All he can do is accept their forgiveness, and God’s, if he hopes to move forward with his life.

As always, I hope and pray my readers will be impacted by that message and will find hope and healing in the reminder that our Father always waits to welcome us back with open arms when we have wandered away from Him.

This was my first Sara Davison book and I loved it! I have read some of her others but this one is my favorite. I just got Written in Ink (the second in this series) and I am excited to see where Cash’s story takes us!

Another new author for me! I really love the cover and it draws me in. I definitely need to give it a try.
