Deadly ConnectionDEADLY CONNECTION
Series: The Deadly Secrets #2
Author: Kathy Harris
Publisher: Iron Stream Fiction
Release Date: October 12, 2021
Genre: Romantic Suspense, Christian

Will they uncover the secrets between them before it becomes deadly?

After fending off a would-be abductor, 27-year-old singer-songwriter Hannah Cassidy hides behind a car in the half-empty parking lot behind Pancake Pantry in Nashville. From there, she watches in horror as her attacker grabs another woman and pushes her into a nearby car. Within seconds, the vehicle speeds away.

TBI Special Agent Jake Matheson may have planned a quiet day off and a date with Shannon―the only name her online profile revealed―for an introductory lunch, but after pulling into a parking space on 21st Avenue South, he hears a scream. He races to the back of the building and finds a frightened young woman bent forward and gasping for breath.

Thrown together by uncanny circumstances and driven by the whys and what-ifs of secrets yet to be revealed, Hannah and Jake set out to find the connection between them before it becomes deadly.

Hi Kathy! Welcome to the blog!

Kathy: Dogs for sure. And, specifically, Shiloh Shepherds or German Shepherd Dogs. I’ve grew up with rescue GSDs, and I’ve had four Shiloh Shepherds since the mid-1990s. I love BIG dogs. Shiloh Shepherds are 100+ lb. breed. You can see photos of my dogs on my website.

Carrie: awww i love big dogs!

Kathy: Coke made with real sugar, not fructose.

Carrie: the way God intended it 😉

Kathy: This one’s easy… ocean!!! And, related to that question, I prefer summer over winter!

Carrie: Those two answers usually do go hand-in-hand. And my winter people tend to prefer the mountains lol

Kathy: I like ebooks and audiobooks. I can read any book, anytime on my phone. I literally carry my library with me at all times. I particularly love audiobooks, because I can read while I’m doing other things… exercising, traveling, or cleaning the house.

Carrie: I can’t do audiobooks but I love ebooks for the same reasons! Who would have ever thought we would be able to carry our library around with us?

Q: Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?

Kathy: I would like to think my superpower is listening to others and trying to understand every point of view. Years ago, I taught junior college level English Literature and Poetry in a minimum-security correctional center. I learned a lot from that experience.

Carrie: oh wow!

Q: Tell me some good books you’ve read recently.

Kathy: In no special order, 1) Charles Martin’s The Water Keeper. 2) The Sentence Is Death by Anthony Horowitz. 3) The Word Is Murder by Anthony Horowitz. 4) Trial by Twelve by Heather Day Gilbert. 5) And This Present Darkness by Frank Peretti. I first read This Present Darkness in the 1980s and recently reread it. The Audible version is great!

Carrie: ooo excellent choices!

Q: If I asked your characters to describe YOU as an author, what would they say?

Kathy: Ha-ha! I love that question. They would probably describe me as frustrating (and/or easily frustrated). And most likely, as anxious. I was on a short deadline with this book, and I would sometimes lose my patience with them. I’m just glad they never quit talking to me. ha!

Carrie: haha!

Q: What surprised you about your story or your characters as you wrote Deadly Connection

Kathy: There is one character in Deadly Connection I couldn’t hold back… And, believe me, I tried. She kept doing and saying things I didn’t want her to do. But, in the end, she turned out to be who she was supposed to be.

Carrie: i love that!

Q: Did you have the whole plot outlined before you started writing Deadly Connection, or did you let the characters dictate what came next?

Kathy: This is the first book I’ve written without an outline or, at least, without a clear idea in the beginning about where it was going. Now that I’ve done that once, I might do it again. In retrospect, it was fun.

Carrie: yay!

Q: What do you most want readers to take away from Deadly Connection?

Kathy: I hope my readers will be reminded that faith is stronger than fear, and that God can and will see us through the toughest of times. When I was widowed over seven years ago, I had to learn to rely on God even more than before. He was there to calm my fears. To help me work through difficult situations, including caregiving two parents on my own. And to guide me through a lot of decisions and lifestyle changes. He was—and is always—able.

Carrie: Amen ♥

Thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.

Kathy: A book I’ve wanted to write for years! Deadly Conclusion will be Book 3, and the final book in The Deadly Secrets series, published by Iron Stream Fiction.

Thanks for having me here with you! It was fun!

This author is now to me, but her story is certainly one I would choose to read. I especially like the setting.
