I asked the author…

What is something God taught you while you wrote a match made at christmas?

I feel like every single book I write is a bit of a spiritual journey–even this sweet little novella I got to write during 2020, one of our worst years to date! And I think what I learned is that there is JOY even in the midst of trouble. I decided to write this story for fun, because I loved the hero and I love Nantucket and I loved the idea of finding him his perfect match. I believe God knew I needed something to occupy my anxious brain, and He just walked alongside me as I brought this story to life. Because it’s shorter, there was less questioning and wrestling and “figuring out.” I simply got to focus on the things I’m most passionate about–the story & the characters. In so many ways, it felt like God’s gift to me, and it reminded me that He is in the details, even the small, seemingly insignificant details of our lives. I’m so thankful for that gift.

Courtney Walsh is a novelist, artist, theatre director, and playwright. Her debut, A Sweethaven Summer, hit the New York Times and USA Today e-book bestseller lists and was a Carol Award finalist in the debut author category, and her contemporary romance Just Let Go won the Carol Award in 2019.
