As teens, their paths crossed every Christmas. This year, their paths intertwine.
Single father Noah Appel has suffered more loss than a man of twenty-five should. Between his grief and the mounting pressure of the approaching busy season, he’s overwhelmed—until an incident at his daughter’s school reintroduces him to a girl whose wild hair and quirky family always stood out from other visitors to his family’s tree farm. Only now, she’s a beautiful woman with a kind and helpful heart who throws him and his young daughter a welcome lifeline.
Offering to alleviate some of Noah’s stress seemed like the natural thing for music teacher Clari Sinclair to do, considering his family’s tree farm was the site of so many wonderful memories with her Christmas-obsessed family. Especially since the charming boy she once knew has grown into a handsome man whose burdens call to the deepest parts of her romantic heart.
Can these two turn memories of Christmases past into a future worthy of the Appel legacy?

Noah peered at his daughter, raising a questioning brow. “Luce, you want to sing in the Christmas show?”
She pulled her thumb out of her mouth with a rapid nod. “I love singing! I love Christmas!”
Eden’s eyes sparkling from Lucy’s round face, Noah couldn’t bring himself to disappoint her. “Okay, Luce.”
He assessed the teacher’s expectant smile. “Lead the way, Ms. -”
“Sinclair. Clari Sinclair.”
The hair on the back of his neck lifted. A loopy grin spread across his face as he gave her a closer look. Bright eyes he should have recognized glimmered at him.
“You got contacts.”
“I did. And you got tall.”
He chuckled. “You didn’t.”
“Hey! Five-five is a perfectly respectable height.”
She jerked her head toward the door, and Noah tugged Lucy’s hand to follow the pretty girl he’d been so drawn to when he was younger.
Clari Sinclair. He shook his head.
How many years had it been? Close to eight, maybe more. Felt like a lifetime. So much had changed since they were naive, carefree high schoolers. He gave her another once over, smiling at the unruly hair coming loose from the knot on her head. She looked the same, only older.
She may not have changed much, but he certainly had. And not all for the better.

Taking a moment to compose herself, CJ washed her hands at the sink. Enough. She had to face him some time.
“Aw, man. I love these things.”
Oh, she remembered.
Tobin’s groan set off a feeling inside her warmer and gooier than the center of the cookie he savored. His closed eyes allowed her a moment to peruse him.
He looked way too good and stirred up too many old feelings she wasn’t entirely comfortable remembering. Since high school, he’d grown more at ease with himself. His confidence was evident in his relaxed stance, the way he leaned so nonchalantly against the kitchen island.
He’d been funny, well-spoken, and self-deprecating during dinner – the same guy she’d known for half her life – while she’d barely been able to make eye contact, feeling as awkward as she had junior year after their breakup. Only now her awkwardness had little to do with Tobin and everything to do with her naivety and foolish choices.
“Still enjoy watching people eat, huh?”
CJ blinked, her cheeks flushing hot. “Nothing pleases a chef like knowing their food is appreciated.”
“If Lucy hadn’t been going on and on about how these were her favorite afterschool treat in the car, I might think you made them just for me.”
The twerp had the gall to wink.
