playlist for No Place Like Home
by Amy R. Anguish, author of No Place Like Home
I have to admit, I don’t normally have a playlist for my books. I’m not one of these authors who listen to a certain type of music to get in the mood to write. Instead, I let my characters dictate what happens, but that’s another post.
This latest book, however, is a bit different. My main character, Adrian, is an old musical lover and constantly hums. And when your character is always humming or watching musicals, you end up with songs being mentioned in the book. Which sets itself up for a playlist.
Add to that one scene where she participates in a program, singing for the older members of a congregation, and that throws in a few more songs. So, in order to prepare for full reading pleasure, be sure to snag some of these tunes to listen to as you discover what else Adrian likes (and dislikes) in No Place Like Home. And why her humming makes her coworker Gray so happy. 😉
- Walkin’ in Memphis
- Singin’ in the Rain
- As Time Goes By
- Unchained Melody
- Swinging on a Star
- A medley of songs about traveling that include ‘Come Fly with Me,’ ‘Chattanooga Choo Choo,’ ‘Surrey with the Fringe on Top,’ and ‘The Trolley Song.’
- Anything Glenn Miller Orchestra
- Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
- Great is Thy Faithfulness
What do you think? Any favorite songs of yours listed there? Any others you think might fit considering the list already in place? I’m always up for learning of new great tunes.
Amy R Anguish grew up a preacher’s kid, and in spite of having lived in seven different states that are all south of the Mason Dixon line, she is not a football fan. Currently, she resides in Tennessee with her husband, daughter, and son, and usually a bossy cat or two. Amy has an English degree from Freed-Hardeman University that she intends to use to glorify God, and she wants her stories to show that while Christians face real struggles, it can still work out for good.

Wonderful story. The playlist is special as oldies are what I enjoy. Blue Moon, Sentimental Journey.
Those are great songs, too. I can definitely see my character loving them. 😉
