Happy Tuesday! I’m doing my own thing today for Top Ten Tuesday because I wanted to make sure I highlighted Black History month. I’ve got 10 Black history books for you to read and 10 Black history books for you to read with your child. Some I’ve read already and some are on my TBR list to read soon. Let’s not relegate it only to February, though – these books can and should be read any time of the year!
Why am I spending time on Black history?
Well, for starters, because it’s history and I think history should be studied. Sadly, I didn’t learn much about Black history in school outside of slavery and Martin Luther King, Jr. Most of what I’ve learned about Black history as an adult comes from something I read in a novel and then researched more on my own. If we only study the history that pertains to our own race or culture, we are doing not only a disservice to ourselves but also to God who is writing His story with every tribe, language, people and nation. We miss a big chunk of HIS story if we don’t study Black history.

yes!
What a great topic for this month! I love that you included both adult and children’s books.
Thanks, Deanna! 🙂
Great list, Carrie! Happy Tuesday!
Great list . Thank you for sharing.
This is great! I think reading about someone different from me is the best way to have empathy and grow as a human being. Such a good list!
