LOOKING FOR LEROY by Melody Carlson
GENRE: Inspirational Contemporary Romance
RELEASE DATE: March 1, 2022
PAGES: 302

It’s official: Brynna Phillips is done with men. They only break your heart. But just when she makes this declaration, her friend Jan convinces Brynna to join her on a camping vacation in Sonoma Wine Country. As they wind their way toward their destination, spanking-new mini camper in tow, Brynna recalls her teenage camp romance with a boy named Leroy. How can it have been nearly 30 years ago? All she remembers is that Leroy was a genuinely good guy and that his family owned a vineyard–in Sonoma. She doesn’t even remember his last name. Jan insists they look for him, and the search begins.

Beyond the slim chance they’d ever be able to find him are questions that have haunted Brynna for decades, including What is the point of digging up the past? and Can Leroy ever forgive me for losing touch?

Bestselling author Melody Carlson invites you on a trip to rediscover the carefree days of youth and, just maybe, to get a second chance at love.

by Melody Carlson, author of Looking for Leroy

I wrote Looking for Leroy one year into the Covid shutdown frenzy. By then I was ready for a real getaway, something to shake up the “same-old-same-old” of everyday living. It had been my goal that, while writing this novel, my husband and I would drive our motor-home down to Sonoma wine country and just look around. You know, “a research” trip (aka an escape from the humdrum of pandemic life). But discovering how much was shutdown in that area, we realized it would be rather bleak visit. Might as well stay home . . . and write a book. But the fun discovery (actually a rediscovery) was how delightful it is to travel vicariously through the magic of story. So, using the internet for research, I pulled up facts and photos and all sorts of fun information, and I allowed myself to be transported to where I was unable to go. Isn’t that the beauty of books? They take us places without leaving the comfort (or safety) of our favorite armchair. And hopefully next year, my husband and I will take that camping trip down to Sonoma wine country.

Hmmm…I’m curious how it works out looking for someone from 30 years ago, and you don’t have a last name!

I often wonder about people that I knew in the past, and sometimes I have looked them up (easier now on fb, than it would have been 15+ years ago). Sometimes I’ve even been able to re-connect, but I don’t think it is necessarily always a good idea to do so with a previous crush or boyfriend, as I wouldn’t want to cause problems in my marriage. (I think it depends on your purpose of trying to find someone you knew.) Anyway, I think I would enjoy reading this story, as I always enjoy a good, sweet, clean romance, as well as a (hopefully) happy ending to a “what if” story.
