Where Wild Roses Bloom JustRead Blog+ Review Tour

Welcome to the Blog + Review Tour for Where Wild Roses Bloom by Angela K. Couch, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours! I’m delighted to have Angela on the blog today to chat about her new historical romance!

(I’ve been in love with Canadian Mountie heroes ever since I met Wynn Delany on the pages of When Calls the Heart by Janette Oke so I’m really looking forward to this book!)

Where Wild Roses BloomWHERE WILD ROSES BLOOM by Angela K. Couch
SERIES: Heart of a Mountie #1
GENRE: Inspirational Historical Romance
PUBLISHER: Smitten Historical Romance
RELEASE DATE: March 15, 2022
PAGES: 320

When Lenora Perry’s dream of becoming an acclaimed singer dies a painful death, she attempts to escape her mistakes by fleeing north—directly into the path of an all-too-dashing Mountie. Though the man in scarlet appears eager to be rid of her, his home provides security, and his sister offers friendship—two things Lenora is desperate for after discovering her pregnancy. With the past dogging her footsteps and her future uncertain, dare she consider new dreams?

Upholding the law makes up the fabric of Constable Edmond Bryce’s existence. As his five years of service draw to an end, he must decide whether or not to continue in his father’s footsteps—an increasingly difficult decision now that Miss Perry has infiltrated his life. Though she’s the daughter of a parson and a close friend to his sister, Edmond can’t push aside the feeling that Lenora hides more than she tells. But duty calls, leaving little time for matters of the heart.

Hi Angela! Welcome to the blog!

Angela: Dogs! I love my Golden Retrievers and Irish Setter.

Carrie: I’ve always wanted a Golden Retriever!

Angela: Tea for sure! A nice rich herbal blend.

Carrie: Hot cocoa for me, please 🙂

Angela: Over of course. Keep things simple and functional.

Carrie: am i the only person on the planet who prefers the toilet paper roll to go under? Lol

Angela: I love my Rockies. We moved closer to them a year ago and I never get bored of the view.

Carrie: the mountains are my happy place!

Q: Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?

Angela: Changing Diapers. Laying down, standing up, rolling over, sideways, or upside-down. Perhaps while the toddler is kicking like it’s soccer practice. That dirty bum doesn’t stand a chance.

Carrie: hahahaha! love it!

Q: Which books are “on your nightstand”?

Angela: My sister gave me some Regency recommendations, so I am currently reading In Pursuit of the Painter by Ashtyn Newbold with The Highwayman’s Letters by Martha Keys up next. I am also reading Mr. Darcy Broke My Heart which was my “blind date” from my local library for Valentines.

Carrie: I’ve been meaning to try those two authors too (so many books, so little time), and I loved Mr. Darcy Broke My Heart (if it’s one by Beth Pattillo)!

Q: Writing spaces are as diverse as authors and books. Where is your favorite space to write?

Angela: Someone recently gave us some super classy and comfortable cream-colored wing back chairs that we’ve made a little sitting nook in our bedroom. It’s a great place to hide out as it’s the quietest room in the house.

Carrie: ooo i love that! sounds so cozy 🙂

Q: Were there any songs that inspired you as you wrote Where Wild Roses Bloom?

Angela: Rock of Ages kept coming to mind, and actually made it into the story. My appreciation of those Lyrics has grown a lot

Carrie: one of my fave hymns ♥

Q: Do you have the whole plot outlined before you start writing, or do you let the characters dictate what comes next?

Angela: A little bit of both. I have the plot outlined, but my characters always seem to take on a life of their own, and I try to let them have space to grow.

Carrie: that’s fascinating to me!

Q: What is something God taught you while you wrote Where Wild Roses Bloom?

Angela: There was the gentle reminder that He knows my dreams and the desires of my heart, but He also knows what is best for me. I need to trust His plan for me

Carrie: amen 🙂

Thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.

Angela: April 1st is just around the bend and, with it my WWII novel, A Rose for the Resistance. I call these books twins because of the rose theme in each, which was, believe it or not, completely coincidental!

To keep from freezing in the Great White North, Angela K. Couch cuddles under quilts with her laptop. Winning short story contests, being a semi-finalist in ACFW’s Genesis Contest, and a finalist in the International Digital Awards also helped warm her up. As a passionate believer in Christ, her faith permeates the stories she tells. Her martial arts training, experience with horses, and appreciation for good romance sneak in there, as well. When not writing, she stays fit (and warm) by chasing after five munchkins.

Angela’s superpower made me laugh, but it sounds like she needs it. Her sitting nook sounds calm and restful. Where Wild Roses Bloom belongs on my TBR.
