A STRIKE TO THE HEART by Danielle Grandinetti
SERIES: Strike to the Heart #1
GENRE: Historical Romantic Suspense
PUBLISHER: Iron Stream Media
RELEASE DATE: April 12, 2022
She’s fiercely independent. He’s determined to protect her.
Wisconsin, 1933―When a routine mission becomes an ambush that kills his team, Craft Agency sniper Miles Wright determines to find the persons responsible and protect the woman he rescued. But the fierce independence that led Lily Moore to leave her family’s dairy business for the solitary life of a dog trainer and the isolation of her farm don’t make that easy. Neither does his unwanted attraction to her. Meanwhile, escalating incidents confirm that she’s far from safe.
Lily fears letting the surprisingly gentle retired marine into her life almost as much as she fears whoever is threatening her. As Wisconsin farmers edge toward another milk strike, one that will surely turn violent, it becomes clear that the plot against Lily may be part of a much larger conspiracy. When the search for her abductor leads close to home, she must decide whether to trust her family or the man who saved her life.
MORE BOOKS IN THIS SERIES
Hi Danielle! Welcome to the blog!
Danielle: I love cold, snow, and cozy everything. There’s nothing better than reading beside the fireplace, wrapped in a cozy blanket and sweater, and drinking hot chocolate.
Carrie: yes!!!! We are kindred spirits!
Danielle: Tea. I don’t like coffee (gasp!) and learned to love tea after a visit to England. Now I love a proper cup of strong black tea. Chai lattes are my favorite, but I also love Earl Grey (London Fogs are amazing!), Irish Breakfast, and English Breakfast.
Carrie: i don’t like coffee either and maybe I need a trip to England to learn to love tea, too 😀
Danielle: Mountains – Bonus if there’s a mountain lake, a cozy cabin, and snow!
Carrie: yes please!
Danielle: Print. I love holding a book in my hands. It’s cozy and comfortable and … yeah. 🙂 But, after having children, I came to appreciate my paperwhite, too (I can’t read on a tablet) because I could read at night while up with a baby.
Carrie: I almost totally read on my paperwhite, now, but I still love hugging the print copies 🙂
Q: Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?
Danielle: Unlimited Travel. Not teleportation because I love the journey of traveling, but I’d love the ability to go anywhere and everywhere so I could learn about all the people who live there.
Carrie: that would be pretty awesome!
Q: If you knew you were only going to be allowed FIVE books for the rest of your life, besides the Bible, which five would make the cut?
- Wings of Devotion by Roseanna M. White
- No Other will Do by Karen Witemeyer
- The Runaway Bride by Jody Hedlund
- Set the Stars Alight by Amanda Dykes
- The Mobster’s Daughter by Rachel Scott McDaniel
Carrie: ooo I love those choices!!
Q: Writing spaces are as diverse as authors and books. Where is your favorite space to write?
Danielle: My favorite place to write is my upstairs office. It’s quiet and secluded and has windows on three sides where I can get a peek at Lake Michigan. When the wind is churning up the waves, I can hear the lake, too.
Carrie: that sounds so lovely!
Q: Did you have the whole plot outlined before you started writing A Strike to the Heart, or did you let the characters dictate what came next?
Danielle: I usually begin with the characters and see what happens. In the case of A Strike to the Heart, Miles got the story started.
Carrie: yay! I can’t wait to meet Miles 🙂
Q: Some authors like to hide little things in their stories. Is there anything you have hidden in A Strike to the Heart?
Danielle: For those who know their state animals, the two dogs in A Strike to the Heart are American Water Spaniels, which is the state dog of Wisconsin.
Carrie: I did not know that there were such things as state dogs – how cool!
Q: What do you most want readers to take away from A Strike to the Heart?
Danielle: Throughout the writing process, the verse that kept playing through my head was John 15:13, “ Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (KJV) It’s my prayer that readers see this greater love, and experience it, too.
Carrie: amen ♥
Thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.
Danielle: My next book, As Silent as the Night, releases on September 13. This is the Christmas novella featuring Miles’ friend Gio, who you’ll meet in A Strike to the Heart. You can find out more at: https://daniellegrandinetti.com/as-silent-as-the-night/
