Hi Kimberly! Welcome back to the blog!

Kimberly: Summer. I don’t like being cold. LOL but I don’t like being hot either. Ironically, I just moved to Montana where the winters are below freezing and the summers are quite hot.

Carrie: haha oh dear!

Kimberly: Coffee. Though I enjoy both, I’m usually in the mood for coffee rather than tea.

Carrie: i still wish it tasted as good as it smelled 🙂

Kimberly: Oh, that’s a tough one since Netflix has some great Hallmark style movies. I think since I recently cancelled Netflix though and I kept my Frndly app that airs all the Hallmark stations I’d have to say Hallmark. 🙂

Carrie: i need to check out Frndly!

Kimberly: How can I choose between my two passions? I love music and books, audiobooks are awesome. I seriously can’t pick. What would life be like with no music and audiobooks allow me to read when I’m cleaning or my eyes are too tired to focus.

Carrie: ‘both’ is a perfectly acceptable answer 🙂

Q: When you walk into a bookstore, where do you head first?

Kimberly: I always look for the Christian fiction section. I love romantic suspense and then contemporary romance.

Carrie: me too! Sadly, that CF section is getting harder to find in most bookstores :-/

Q: If I asked your characters to describe YOU as an author, what would they say?

Kimberly: She thinks a LOT and loves to understand the why behind behavior. She’s quiet most of the time, but when you get her talking watch out! She likes to talk. Lol. Thankfully, she reads people well and knows when to be quiet.

Carrie: sounds like she makes the perfect author – an observer, a thinker, and a reader of people!

Q: If Hollywood wanted to produce Finding Love in San Antonio as a movie, who would you want to be cast as the lead roles?

Kimberly: As it happens this book is also a movie! I had nothing to do with the casting, but if I could have I would have cast Selena Gomez as Sandra. I co-wrote Finding Love in San Antonio and I was assigned Sandra’s storyline.

Carrie: yay for movies! How fun!

Q: Did you have the whole plot outlined before you started writing Finding Love in San Antonio, or did you let the characters dictate what came next?

Kimberly: I had a very good idea about Sandra’s plot. I’m what’s known as a pantster, which means I don’t outline or have everything firmly plotted out before I start to write, but I had a very good idea about her storyline before I jumped into writing.

Carrie: I think I would be a pantser, too, if I ever wrote a book – I’d want that freedom.

Q: What do you most want readers to take away from Finding Love in San Antonio?

Kimberly: When readers finish this book, I hope they feel happy and satisfied. I don’t deliberately write a moral message into books, but I did notice that my co-writer had a theme of putting family first when her character had to make a big decision.

Carrie: I think the best moral messages, or messages of faith, in a story are the ones that take the author a bit by surprise too 🙂

Thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.

Kimberly: Thanks for asking! I hope to have a Christmas novella ready to publish in either September or October. It will be part of the Sweet Romance Reads bloggers A Puppy for Christmas series.

Thanks so much for hosting me on your blog, Carrie!

Carrie: always a pleasure to have you here, Kimberly!

I recently visited San Antonio. This would be interesting story to see if any of the sights are listed in the story.

It really is a great story and was so much fun to write. It’s my first co-written book.

  2. Nancy

I love the beautiful city of San Antonio and it would be fun to read a book with that city as a setting.

Thanks for having me on your fabulous blog, Carrie!
Lol as for the scent or coffee my parents thought it smelled like smoke today. 🤷‍♀️ No idea why, but I love the smell too.

  4. Cindy Merrill

I need a good escape distraction read right now, the news has been so depressing recently.

  5. Carolyn

I saw the movie the other day so lovely and perfect for Hallmark, really enjoyed it.

I’m really curious where you saw the movie. It was my understanding it didn’t have distribution as of yet, but I know things change quickly in that business.

      • Carolyn

Interesting IMDB says it came out last year. I’m in New Zealand and it was on one of our local channels so must be freely available as we don’t see them till nearly a year later on our free channels.

  6. Kimberly Rose Johnson

Interesting! I had no idea. It’s not available to my knowledge here in the states. So glad you enjoyed the movie!
The part of the book I wrote is not in the movie.

    • Carolyn

Funny that, wonder if they are waiting for the book before releasing the movie in the states.
Oh thats a shame, I’ll have to read the book as well.

Thank you, Jeanna! It was fun to work with the cover artist along with my co-writer/publisher. 🙂

  8. Jen Reed

I would love to read this book as the excerpt sounds fun with the TV chef and the restaurant that needs help as well as the building romance.
