Betrayal and trust go hand in hand in the first book of Heidi Eljarbo’s new turn-of-the-century series.

It’s 1898, and Lilly has spent most of her life motherless and living with a father who never looks for a silver lining. When her great-aunt Agatha passes, Lilly’s existence takes a drastic turn. She packs her few belongings and moves into the old lady’s magnificent estate, Rosenli Manor.

In the days that follow, Lilly tries to understand who Agatha really was, and hidden secrets slowly rise to the surface. Her great-aunt’s glamorous legacy is not quite what Lilly had imagined. She must trust in newly forged friendships, and to her surprise, she discovers what it means to truly fall in love. But not everyone is happy about the new mistress of Rosenli.

Intrigue, mystery, and a touch of romance in the Norwegian countryside fill the pages of Secrets of Rosenli Manor. Fans of Rhys Bowen, Julie Klassen, Kathleen McGurl, Kate Morton, and Lucinda Riley will be delighted with this new novel.

Hi Heidi! Welcome to the blog!

Heidi: Dogs –I have an Irish Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier and love him to pieces.

Carrie: awww those are such great dogs!

Heidi: Music. I prefer reading the books myself.

Carrie: Me too!

Heidi: I live by the ocean but have a cabin in the mountains. It’s the best of two worlds. If I should choose one, I would say mountains.

Carrie: oh man i’m jealous! that sounds just about perfect 🙂

Heidi: Soup…what’s not to love about soup? I make it all the time from scratch.

Carrie: yummm now i want soup

Q: Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?

Heidi: I would fly a broomstick. Just think of the cheap maintenance, no fuel cost, easy parking, balance training, fresh air, etc. The positive sides are many.

Carrie: haha indeed 🙂

Q: Who is your favorite book character from childhood?

Heidi: Pollyanna

Carrie: such a great character!

Q: Writing spaces are as diverse as authors and books. Where is your favorite space to write?

Heidi: My dining room. It has a view of the woodland with sheep, squirrels, deer, and people out walking.

Carrie: that sounds so peaceful!

Q: Were there any songs that inspired you as you wrote Secrets of Rosenli Manor?

Heidi: I listened to a lot of Cliff Richard. He has a soothing background voice.

Carrie: confession – I totally had to look up who that is haha. Oops.

Q: Did you have the whole plot outlined before you started writing, or did you let the characters dictate what came next?

Heidi: I am a plotter. Yes, I give my characters a lot of freedom, but I like to know what the book is about before writing.

Carrie: i think especially when you’re writing mysteries that’s a good idea!

Q: What is something God taught you while you wrote Secrets of Rosenli Manor?

Heidi: That like with my other books, clean reads are good and also necessary. There are many readers who appreciate a wholesome story.

Carrie: very true! And I’m one of them 🙂

Thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.

Heidi: Thank you so much for having me. I am busy writing the fourth book in a dual timeline series called Soli Hansen Mysteries. It’s about an art historian during WWII who joins the resistance to preserve precious artwork from Nazi art looting. The dual story goes back to the seventeenth century and the women in a family who assigned master painters to do their portraits. Both of these stories continue in this series.

I am also planning more historical Christmas novels with a bit of mystery and romance.
