Maria T. Henriksen is a lover of reading, writing, and the arts. She considers it a privilege to be able to pursue her dreams of being a multi-published, multi-genre author.
Helping others in any capacity is what drives Maria. The Not Again duology was designed to draw people closer to God. Not Again The Fallout was created to demonstrate that by sharing our burdens, as well as asking for and receiving help, anything can be accomplished. Maria believes that it’s also important to dig deep and to look upward and outward to help those in need. She feels that giving of yourself may lead to your own restoration, in addition to being a blessing to others.
This born-and-raised Philadelphia suburbanite resides with her husband, Dave, of over two decades, along with their amazing college-age twins, Brandon and Kathryn. Maria feels extremely blessed to have such a close family and continues to find each of them as a source of daily inspiration.

Hi Maria! Welcome to the blog!
Maria: Hallmark. I listen to the Hallmark movies when I’m working on my authorship. They are easy to follow without paying too much attention. I don’t have Netflix.
Carrie: Hallmark Mysteries are my jam, and I love to have them on in the background too 🙂
Maria: Music. I listen to classical music when I’m writing or editing. I don’t think I could follow an audio book as I get easily distracted.
Carrie: I almost always have music on – in a mix of styles – but my mind wanders if i try to listen to a podcast or audiobook lol
Maria: I love the beach! It’s my happy place. I find the ocean to be inspiring.
Carrie: the mountains are my happy place but ideal would be a place with views of both!
Maria: Print. I definitely prefer paperbacks, although I don’t often allow myself the leisure of reading. I use my phone all day long. I need a break from screen time. Plus, I won’t see the notifications on my phone when I’m reading a paperback. I need a break from all that too.
Carrie: While I prefer paperbacks because of the pretty factor (and occasional book hugging), my Kindle Paperwhite is my go-to lately for convenience sake. Doesn’t help with screen time but at least there aren’t notifications. And since I do read every day (it’s a necessity for me on so many levels) it helps me avoid eye strain by enlarging the font to a ridiculous size 🙂
Q: Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?
Maria: Talking. I can strike up a conversation with just about anyone, and I genuinely like to get to know people.
Carrie: that’s a wonderful superpower to have – my grandfather had it, too!
Q: When you walk into a bookstore, where do you head first?
Maria: I would go to the discounted books section. I’m a starving artist.
Carrie: I totally get that!
Q: What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever Googled while researching a book?
Maria: I researched how tall the actress Bea Arthur was.
Carrie: haha – that has me all kinds of curious, now 🙂
Q: Which of your main characters in the Not Again series is most like you?
Maria: Christina, the protagonist is most like me. She’s sort of like my alter ego, but she’s taller, thinner, prettier, smarter, and inspiring.
Carrie: every author should have an alter ego lol
Q: Did you have the whole plot outlined before you started writing Not Again The Fallout, or did you let the characters dictate what came next?
Maria: The characters told me what to write. I don’t write with an outline or notes of any kind. I pretty much wing it.
Carrie: ah a pantser among us 🙂
Q: What do you most want readers to take away from {YOUR BOOK}?
Maria: Regarding the sequel to my series called Not Again The Fallout that releases July 13, I want people to know that by trusting in God and asking for help that anything is possible. It may take a lot of work, and it can terrifying, but God will transform you when you seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit and allow people in.
