Hi Kathy! Welcome to the blog!

Kathy: Oranges. More flavor. When I start lagging while on my delivery route, I turn to oranges for energy.

Carrie: oh interesting – apples do that for me when I’m dragging mid-afternoon

Kathy: I have both, but the dogs are so much [more] friendly. When I come home they act like they haven’t seen me for a month.

Carrie: haha yes! Dogs are so sweet that way

Kathy: I listen to audio books while I drive. This is the only way I get any “reading” done.

Carrie: i so wish i could love audiobooks – i would get so much more reading done that way!

Kathy: Ocean. That’s why I moved to Florida. I also scuba dive, so definitely ocean for me.

Carrie: the ocean is so beautiful!

Q: Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?

Kathy: Parenting. I have two birth children, one step child, and five adopted children. We fostered eleven children. And now I have six grandchildren.

Carrie: awww that’s awesome!

Q: Which books are “on your nightstand”?

Kathy: They are actually on my audible list, but they are two different K9 suspense/mystery series.

Carrie: i love K9 suspense books!

Q: What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever Googled while researching a book?

Kathy: What is the difference in the refloat rate of a dead body submerged in salt water compared to fresh water. LOL. It really does make a difference in the underwater crime scene novel I’m working on now.

Carrie: haha i’ll take your word for it 😉

Q: Do you have the whole plot outlined before you start writing, or do you let the characters dictate what comes next?

Kathy: I always have a general idea of where the book is going, but sometimes not how I’m going to get there. In my book A Thousand Lies that just released, I thought the story was done, but then I had a thought: what if the evil birthfather is still alive and comes after her. And I rewrote the whole story.

Carrie: that’s definitely an intriguing twist!!

Q: What do you most want readers to take away from Catching Hope?

Kathy: There is always hope. Never give up on hope.

Carrie: amen to that!

Thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.

Kathy: I am taking a break from YA fiction for the summer to work on an underwater crime scene story. This is a bit challenging for me as I scuba dive but don’t have any law enforcement background.

Carrie: sounds like my kind of story!

I enjoyed the Q&A, Catching Hope sounds like an excellent read and I like the cover! Thanks for sharing it with me and have a sunshiny day!

  3. I had a dead body in my first romantic suspense novel and I, too, needed to research float times. This was the moment I learned you have to be very careful with your internet searches or you will see way more than you want to see! I didn’t ask for pictures, for Pete sake… I only wanted a time! Looking forward to hearing more about your new book. Happy Writing!

  6. Hello!
This finding has prompted many people to ask whether this finding will lead to widespread use of high-dose antibiotics or other antibiotics during outbreaks like this one; especially when combination treatments are available for viral infections like strains such as covid 19 that have been particularly resistant to current therapies. The answer is: no! Cephalosporins are effective against viruses like covid 19; they do not affect bacterial infections or acidity levels in the body (they have no effect at all on healthy bacteria). In fact, the greater risk from such an outbreak comes from the spread of antibiotic resistance than from any fear about antibiotic use during outbreaks because there are no data linking antibiotic use during such outbreaks with susceptibility changes among strains affected by ongoing pandemics like this one: we don’t know if covid 19 strains will
