HIS AMISH SWEETHEART by Jennifer Beckstrand
SERIES:
The Petersheim Brothers #3

GENRE: Inspirational Contemporary Romance / Amish
PUBLISHER: Zebra Books
RELEASE DATE: June 28, 2022
PAGES: 325

Fondly nicknamed “The Peanut Butter Brothers,” Andrew, Abraham, and Austin Petersheim skillfully run one of Wisconsin’s most cherished family businesses. But their mischievous younger twin siblings have a talent all their own—for matchmaking . . .

Between work and keeping his little brothers out of trouble, Austin Petersheim barely has time to think, much less court the most popular maidel in town. But if he can establish a local market to direct-sell his family’s goods, he’ll stand out as a potential husband. He’s so grateful for the help of his longtime friend, Hannah Yutzy, who has such practical ideas—and is so easy to talk to . . .

While Austin embarks on his plan, his siblings have a plan of their own: to give Austin and Hannah a little nudge to show them they’re made for each other. When their antics wreak havoc with a rival family emporium, Hannah must help Austin set things right.  And as she does just that, Austin is stunned to realize his best friend could be his perfect wife. Now he’ll just need the courage and faith to find out if she agrees . . .

Oh how I adore Alfie and Benji and their sincere-of-heart-but-prone-to-backfire antics. They captured my heart in book one of this hilarious series, and they will forever be there – right next to Beckstrand’s other memorable characters like Anna & Felty and Aunt Bitsy.

All these precocious twins want is their bedroom back – and the only way they know to do that is to get their bedroom-stealing older brothers married & out of the house. And Austin is the last one standing… but this time, the twins don’t agree on who their matchmaking target should be, at least not at first. This leads to some entertaining back-and-forth as they each champion their respective picks for his mate while trying unsuccessfully not to be too obvious about it. Not to worry though, Austin (bless his heart) is a more than a little bit dense when it comes to matters of the heart and stayed oblivious to the motives behind their odder than normal behavior. Which leads to more entertaining shenanigans and laugh-out-loud moments! There are a couple of other characters who also severely tried my patience (you’ll know them when you meet them) but even they play into the humor & the eventual romance and are even further examples of how brilliant this author is with character development.

I have a soft spot in my heart for best-friends-fall-in-love romances, so even if I hadn’t already been dying to read His Amish Sweetheart this trope would have rocketed it to the top of my TBR list. I loved Hannah and I was on her side all the way through. She’s sweet, loyal and gracious, and she loves selflessly. She’s also quite savvy, and I enjoyed watching her help Austin make his dream of a storefront into a reality. Something else I loved was watching Benji really come into his own in this book, as more than just Alfie’s sidekick. He’s the twin with the least guile and (I think) the most sensitive heart but he often stays more in the shadows of his more outspoken & wilier (though still just as delightful) brother. However, Beckstrand gives him plenty of chances to shine in his very own spotlight in His Amish Sweetheart and I just could not be happier about it.

Bottom Line: His Amish Sweetheart was well worth the wait! With her trademark humor and warmth, Beckstrand gives us yet another delightful romance with hilariously endearing characters that keep all your emotions engaged as the story progresses. (Side note: I also appreciated that a character in the community had Lyme Disease and that Beckstrand brought attention to some of its more debilitating symptoms, ones that mirrored my own experience. It’s nice to feel seen in fiction, isn’t it?) Alfie and Benji will take over your heart and refuse to return it to you, but you absolutely cannot miss getting to know them on the pages of this fabulous series from a highly talented author!

(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.)

My Rating: 4.5 stars / loved it!
