MURDER BACKSTAGE by Nupur Tustin
SERIES:
Joseph Haydn Mystery #4

GENRE: Historical Cozy Mystery
PUBLISHER: Foiled Plots Press
RELEASE DATE: July 6, 2022

When murder propels him backstage, Haydn is forced to confront a deadly killer. . .

When the Burgtheater’s impresario unexpectedly meets his maker, Joseph Haydn is relieved to learn no one expects him to look into the matter. The impresario was murdered—and the Salzburger believed to be the killer is already behind bars.

But the impresario’s untimely death is not without consequences. Haydn’s employer insists he take over the dead man’s duties. Handling the tedious technical details of putting on an opera is bad enough. Confronting the suspicious behavior backstage is even worse.

Is an innocent man being sent to the gallows? Haydn is plagued by the question when his brother Michael confirms his worst fears. The Salzburger arrested for the murder is none other than Leopold Mozart—father of the well-known child prodigy currently in Vienna.

Now, egged on by Michael—a close friend of the Mozarts—Haydn must prove Leopold innocent. Or risk his brother’s ire forever!

Praise for the Joseph Haydn Mysteries:

Bottom Line: Murder Backstage by Nupur Tustin takes readers on an immersive journey through the 18th century Vienna world of operas and politics. Historical figures with whom readers are already familiar (Haydn! Mozart!) come to life again under Tustin’s pen, and the characters that are strictly from the author’s imagination seamlessly integrate among them. I most enjoyed the maids who helped Haydn solve the mystery as well as the colorful personalities one finds backstage. The history is meticulously researched, and while I struggled to fully connect with this story I can’t deny that the subject matter was fascinating.

(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.)

My Rating: 3.5 stars / liked it!

You’re welcome, Carrie. And it looks like a glitch on my laptop ended up in two of the same comment being posted on your site. Sorry about that!

I’d be delighted to share it, Carrie. If it hadn’t been for Covid, I wouldn’t have seen the need to homeschool. My quest for a rigorous, intellectually stimulating curriculum led me to Christian publishers, which led me to the Bible and Jesus. More than that, I felt a stirring in my spirit to share my faith with my kids. The Holy Spirit let me know in no uncertain terms that if I didn’t do it now, it would be too late. Not just too late in the sense that they wouldn’t stumble upon God all by themselves, but too late in the Revelation sense. And now every day I thank the Lord that we’ve been led to Him and welcomed into his family!
