Hi Tanya! Welcome to the blog!

Tanya: Summer. I’m such a summer person it’s not funny. I love the water, beaches, lakes, rivers. I grew up water skiing and I lived on the beach. So of course, being in the water requires warmer weather. Can’t get me enough of the sun!

Carrie: I, on the other hand, am a mole who prefers to stay indoors in the a/c. I do venture out in the fall and winter though lol

Tanya: I find I’m much grittier than the standard Hallmark offerings. I like my action and adventure way too much.

Carrie: that must be why your books are full of action & adventure! They’re always so good 🙂

Tanya: Ocean. I love the mountains too but the ocean is my favorite. See above!

Carrie: yep, this answer totally makes sense!

Tanya: Ebook. I can’t hardly read the small print in print books anymore. I guess that shows I’m getting…what’s that word? More polished?

Carrie: i’m the same way – i enlarge the heck outta the font on my kindle lol.

Q: When you walk into a bookstore, where do you head first?

Tanya: The romance section of course…and it’s for selfish reasons. I want to see if my books are there or my friends’ books. After that, I wander all through the store looking at covers and reading back pages. I usually spend a lot of time there. I’m fortunate. All of my family loves bookstores so I don’t get left behind.

Carrie: it’s always fun to visit friends on the bookstore shelves 🙂

Q: Characters often find themselves in situations they aren’t sure they can get themselves out of. When was the last time you found yourself in a situation that was hard to get out of and what did you do?

Tanya: My husband and I travel in a very large motorhome. It’s 45 ft long and when we hook up and tow our Jeep, it ends up being 60 feet long. Sometimes our GPS sends us into a very small areas. In Santa Fe, it sent us into a narrow, apartment complex area with construction workers, big equipment and their trucks. We had to unhook the Jeep and the workers had to move their trucks so my husband could maneuver. I sat in the Jeep and cried. Afterwards, I thought that was really funny because all my heroines are strong, “get it done” types. Apparently, I am not.

Carrie: awww ♥ haha

Q: Which of your main characters in Escape Route is most like you?

Tanya: I’d like to say TJ but after the above paragraph I may have to say I’m most like Trace. I don’t think I’d be as brave as TJ…unless my babies were threatened like Squirt and Bobby were in Escape Route. In that situation, I turn into a mama tiger and I’d be very brave and very determined!

Carrie: yes!!

Q: If Hollywood wanted to produce Escape Route as a movie, who would you want to be cast as the lead roles?

Tanya: Bradley Cooper, all around nice guy, would be Trace. Kate Hudson would make a great TJ.

Carrie: oh that would be a fabulous pairing!

Q: What do you most want readers to take away from Escape Route?

Tanya: Embrace forgiveness in all its shapes. It’s hard to forgive but if you don’t, you won’t move forward. The life God gives us is a journey. Without forgiveness, you will leave some part of yourself on the road behind.

Carrie: amen ♥

Thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.
