Happy Saturday! We’re continuing our look at upcoming new releases I want to read, and we’ve arrived at Amish fiction – a post where I group contemporary, historical, and mystery/suspense reads that take place in Amish settings, with Amish characters. Since I’m pretty selective in this genre, the Late 2022 Amish Fiction New Releases (September-December) list won’t be quite as out of control as the previous posts have been haha! Still, it seems to grow a bit larger every year as my list of Amish fiction authors that I love expands.
Here is the schedule of posts for the rest of the week – that I promise to stick to now – so you can zero in on your fave genre or, you know, drool with anticipation over all of them!
Tuesday: Contemporary Fiction (non-Amish & non-mystery/suspense)
Wednesday: Historical Fiction (non-Amish & non-mystery/suspense)
Friday: Mystery/Suspense (non-Amish)
TODAY: Amish Fiction
Sunday: Speculative/Youth
Sunday: Non-Fiction – including the book I’m MOST EXCITED ABOUT this season!!!
In my continued quest to streamline these posts I’m only selecting the few that most caught my eye to spotlight here. I’ll also include links to ALL the September-December 2022 releases, each in their own list by month, not just the ones I’m featuring here on the blog. You can also keep up with 2022’s new books as I learn about them by bookmarking the ‘2022 Releases‘ page on my blog menu & checking it periodically!

Cindy Woodsmall & Erin Woodsmall

Eliza appreciates the woman’s heart, but she dismisses the strange conversation while keeping the beautiful quilt. Several years later, mourning the loss of their third child, Eliza discovers her inability to deliver a healthy baby is genetic. Remembering her great-aunt’s strange words, she decides that if she can go back in time and reject Jesse’s proposal, she can save him the heartache of a childless marriage. Her sacrifice will allow him to marry someone else and raise a family. But once she puts her plan into action, she discovers the true impact of her decision–on Jesse and so many others within their community.

During her time away, Leah looked forward to once again spending the holiday season with her family, especially Second Christmas, December 26th, a time of celebrating with extended family and close neighbors like the Burkhalters. ANYTHING BUT PLAIN
Suzanne Woods Fisher
Revell / October 4, 2022
It’s not easy being the bishop’s daughter, especially for Lydie Stoltzfus. She’s not like other Amish girls, as much as she wishes she were. The only thing she does well is disappoint others. Leaving her family and church seems unbearable, but staying might be worse. Knowing Lydie is “between” jobs, the local doctor asks her to fill in at the front desk for a few months. To Lydie, this is a boon. It gives her time to figure out how she’s going to say goodbye to her neighbor, Nathan Yoder–the main reason she needs to leave Stoney Ridge. Nathan claims he’s in love with her, but she knows she’s not good enough for him. If in doubt, Nathan’s father reminds her frequently. As Dok spends time with Lydie, she recognizes symptoms of a disorder rare among the Amish. She offers treatment for Lydie. But will it be enough to make her stay? Or has help come too late?

Despite himself, Karl can’t help wondering what Rose thinks he lacks—and why outspoken, attractive Sophie has so little interest in marriage. After surviving breast cancer, Sophie is hoping to make a fresh start in Harts Haven. Perhaps the handsome widower next door would make a good match for her sister, but Sophie won’t burden any man with her uncertain future. But when Karl offers to help her to create a “living nativity” Christmas program for the schoolchildren, she gratefully agrees. It’ll take a bold plan and help from Karl’s children to make this chaotic Christmas play a success. And as friendships deepen, hearts open and hopes are rekindled, two unlikely people may discover the healing gift of love.
