The one missing person he can’t find is the one who matters the most.

Private Investigator Jax Rodriguez has been searching for his brother, Diego, for twenty years. When he stumbles upon another lead, he makes an agonizing decision—he will follow this last trail until it grows cold, and then he will marry the woman he loves and abandon his quest once and for all.

Artist Mikayla Grant is terrified of losing another person close to her, but she has to let Jax go after his brother. Given the secrecy surrounding Diego’s disappearance, clearly Jax is heading into danger. When all contact with him is abruptly cut off, can Mikayla trust that God’s promise to never leave nor forsake Jax will be enough to bring him safely home? Or does she need to take matters into her own hands?

As Jax attempts to survive the dangerous streets of Caracas, Venezuela, and then face the myriad of unknown threats in the El Yunque Rainforest in Puerto Rico, he is not the only one hunting down his brother.

A ruthless drug lord bent on revenge is using all his resources to discover the truth about what happened to Diego. If Jax can’t stay one step ahead of his pursuer, then he, like his brother, could disappear and never be heard from again.

by Sara Davison, author of Forged

With everything going on in the world today, it seems as though the easiest and best way to travel is through the pages of a book. It’s such an incredible planet and there are so many beautiful places to see and fascinating cultures to experience, not to mention incredible food to enjoy! It was an eye-opening thrill for me to be able to learn and write about some of these places in order to share them with readers in Forged.

Jax Rodríguez, a private investigator from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, has been searching for his missing brother, Diego, for twenty years. He has managed to find dozens of other missing people and reunite them with their families, but he cannot track down the one who matters to him the most. Then he receives a mysterious postcard that might provide a clue as to Diego’s whereabouts. For Jax’s sake and the sake of their mother, who still grieves the loss of her elder son, he needs to follow this last trail until it grows cold, as it always has in the past. After that, he is determined to let go of his quest forever, as putting his life on hold for twenty years for someone who clearly doesn’t want to be found is long enough. All he wants is to marry the woman he loves, Mikayla, and settle down with her, so he needs to find closure and move on.

After dinner in the CN Tower overlooking the city one night, Jax tells Mikayla he needs to make one more attempt to find Diego. Although she is terrified of losing another person she loves after the sudden violent death of her parents two years earlier, Mikayla knows she needs to trust that God will go with Jax and bring him safely home to her.

Jax’s journey takes him to the dangerous streets of Caracas, Venezuela, a city with one of the highest crime and murder rates in the world. While he does, at times, fear for his life, he also falls in love with the city, the people who have been through so much the last few years, and the cachapas (pork, spices, and cheese wrapped in a corn dough pancake) he purchases from a vendor on the street.

From Caracas, Jax follows his brother’s trail to Puerto Rico, where their parents and Diego were born and lived before immigrating to Canada. Although he was born in Toronto, Jax’s heart has always belonged to this beautiful country, and he feels, when he goes there, as if he has come home. His quest takes him deep into the heart of the tropical El Yunque rainforest, where incredible beauty and the symphony of the tree frogs—the coqui—surround him, despite the myriad of dangers lurking beneath the thick canopy of the tabonuco trees.

But the greatest threat may not be the poisonous plants, the venomous spiders, or the ever-present danger of flash floods. Jax is not the only one hunting down his brother. A ruthless drug lord is also hot on Diego’s trail. And if he finds Jax before he can uncover the truth about what happened to Diego, Jax could very well find himself in the drug lord’s sights and, like his brother, disappear forever.

I like a good action/adventure story, and it’s a bonus if there is a good (preferably clean) romance. This sounds like a good story!
