The team is broken. Fear has replaced hope. But one chance remains.

After the devastating blow of the Coalition’s invasion of their compound, the Underground—especially their leader, Kane—has lost all confidence in their ability to help anyone. Quietly, they train for their next mission, not knowing when or if it will ever come.

Still wrestling with the doubts caused by her recoding, Perryn faces a painful question: what will she do if Willis is found? Though she once believed they were in love, her trust in Willis has been shattered. Facing him again is the only way to know if it’s been shattered forever.

In the hands of Solution Systems, Willis finds himself at the mercy of Dr. Campbell, the scientist authorized to carry out the Coalition’s intentions for the recoded prisoners. Using whatever means necessary, he hopes to make Willis his ultimate test subject for changing free will into obedience. Knowing his friends are unaware of his capture, Willis finds himself alone with only one familiar face—Jez, his betrayer.

When the Underground discovers Sandra, Kane’s wife, is still alive, Sheila and Lydia team up with an unexpected ally to reunite the couple. As the Coalition rises to subjugate the world once more, the team realize they must return to the Chase and seize their one shot to ensure the world remains forever free from the Law.

little-known facts about the author

by Bradley Caffee, author of The Change

I will try almost any new food…once. When I travel, I am all about the local cuisine, even if that means delving into items that are bizarre for the western palette. I assume there will be limits at some point, but I haven’t found them.

I hold a black belt in Shaolin Kempo Karate and was an instructor as early as 14-years old. I grew up in the sport which gave me a confidence that has come in handy in more than one sticky situation, but that’s a story for another time.

I made a brief appearance on a national reality TV show. Even had some spoken lines and appeared in the opening credits.

I am a super-introvert, but I have absolutely zero fear about public speaking. I come alive behind a podium or teaching a seminar.

I genuinely struggle to make friends. I’m not certain why. I am friendly to people and have a lot of acquaintances, but I’ve struggled since childhood to translate most of those into real friendships.

I am really slow to make decisions, but when I do, I stick to them and usually know exactly why I’ve made up my mind.

When I was a child, I desperately wanted to be an astronaut. Not just the vague longing that most kids have. I was the one saving my money to go to space camp, a dream that never quite materialized. When I was told that I would be too tall for the space shuttle, I moved on to other things, but have always been fascinated by outer space. Given the chance, I would love to travel beyond our atmosphere. Perhaps that is what inspired the setting for my first book in my debut series which has young people on a space station. I would have loved that as a child.

Large dogs make me nervous. As a child, I was attacked by vicious dogs on four separate occasions. To this day, I struggle to be calm around large canines.

If I had the time, I would love to learn to be a master carpenter. I love the feel, smell, and overall experience of working with wood.

When I left my career as a pastor, I nearly interviewed to be a storm trooper character at Disney World. Why? Because who wouldn’t want to don the armor of the Empire?

Bradley Caffee discovered his love for storytelling during his twelve years of speaking and teaching as a pastor. He graduated at the top of his class in 2000 from the Moody Bible Institute before going on to complete his M.A. at Dallas Theological Seminary, ultimately pastoring churches in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Orlando, Florida. When vocational ministry ended in pastoral burnout, writing became a critical outlet for Bradley during his recovery, which resulted in the birth of his debut novel series.

Bradley and his wife of 22 years now own and run multiple small businesses, including Alexander Homestead Weddings, a top-ranked wedding venue which ranks in the top 2% nationally on The Knot.com and was recently featured on Season 9 of Lifetime’s Married at First Sight.

When not managing his business, he enjoys losing himself in reading and writing fiction, especially YA dystopian, where he enjoys showing that hope can invade darkness. He is a stock-holding fan of the Green Bay Packers, a regular at the local gym, a complete Star Wars geek, and an avid board game player. He, his wife, their two teenagers, and Zoey and Gabby, the world’s most unmanly dogs, live in North Carolina.

I just started reading Dystopian/Sci-fi and found out I really like it, and this sounds like a great story.
