Happy Tuesday, reading & writing friends! Each week until the Art of Writing Conference, I will be spotlighting a different session that is available in this year’s line-up. As one of the directors of the Art of Writing Conference (with the fabulous Jamie Lapeyrolerie) I’m super excited about each of these sessions and want to make sure you know about them! Today’s let look at the 2022 Art of Writing Session Three!
You can check out Session One HERE and Session Two HERE if you missed those.
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The Art of Writing conference will be held from 12:30-5 pm (CDT) on November 17 at Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN, and is designed to bring Christian writers, creatives, storytellers, and publishing curators together for a half-day of intensive seminars that: celebrate the creative life while recognizing the weariness; provide practical tips for engaging in a rapidly-changing industry; introduce challenges to become better writers; and answer the questions authors are asking.
The four-session conference will bring together writers, creatives, and publishing curators for training and connection around topics presented by industry experts, authors, and publishers.
ABOUT art of writing Session three:
to tok or not to tok
If you’re on social media, you’ve no doubt seen a TikTok video and maybe even joined in. They’re hard to miss, especially as TikTok continues to prove itself to be an effective tool in creating buzz about books – whether new releases or backlist. Instagram Reels also continue to grow in popularity and engagement. So what’s an author to choose? And what if you’re overwhelmed at the mere thought of doing either one? In this session you’ll learn some tips and tricks from two creative authors who are pros at TikTok and Reels. You’ll come away with tips on how to get started, understanding the difference between the two, and how it really can be fun.
Emilie Haney (also writing under the pen name Bell Renshaw) grew up in the Pacific Northwest and has a love for the outdoors that matches her love for the written word. In addition to writing, she is a graphic designer who creates promotional graphics for writers, designs book covers, and has built a thriving community around her Instagram platform and brand CreateExploreRead. Emilie writes YA science fiction and fantasy as well as adult contemporary fiction with strong themes of romance and suspense and believes that–no matter what–love fights for what’s right. Connect with her on eacreative.com, Instagram and Etsy
Award-winning author Kristi Ann Hunter has spun chocolate, faith, and diet lemonade into more than a dozen Christian Fiction Regency romances. Find out more about her books, her speaking, and her mascots at KristiAnnHunter.com and listen to her podcast, A Rough Draft Life. She can also be found on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
