“Your pa’s coming home.” The soup ladle dropped from Rosalie Tomkin’s hand into the kettle, splashing an ugly stain onto her apron.
I love this cover!
That is an awesome first line.
I love Pepper’s books and can’t WAIT to read this one!!! I hope you enjoy it!! https://cindysbookcorner.blogspot.com/2022/11/first-line-friday-70-on-cliffs-of.html
Love the “sound” of this one.
“We didn’t always live on Mango Street.” From Sandra Cisneros’ “The House on Mango Street”.
I’ve read it before and love it, and my daughter is currently reading it, so it was the closest book to me. 🙂
“If you lean out any farther, you’ll end up in the drink.” Such an enjoyable book, “The Debutante’s Code.” Pepper Basham’s books are some of my favorites.
Loved Authentically Izzy! So funny and sweet.
My first line is from an author that has become a favorite of mine: C.C. Warrens.
Cross the Line, A Holly Novel :
Flush against the wall, I peered around the corner and up the staircase at the hallway.
I loved Authentically, Izzy SO much!!!
I’m currently finishing up The Lost Melody by Joanna Davidson Politano. It’s good!
“They put me in with the long-stay patients for bath night, on account of the cooking oil encounter.”
I hope you have a great weekend!
I’ve never read any of Pepper Basham’s books. I need to, though. They all sound so good!
My first line is from The Killing God by Stephen R. Donaldson: “Somewhere between life and death, or perhaps between wakefulness and slumber, Elgart floated.”
This looks like a fun one! I just finished Where the Blue Sky Begins by Katie Powner. The first line is: “Eric Larson had never seen such a sorry excuse for a town.” Happy weekend!
One that I never tire of…..
“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.” Pride and Prejudice
I love learning about new authors!
