One night at book club, Hazel sees a swirl of jarring purple, blue and black encompass a young mother. Realizing that the woman might be in trouble, Hazel recommends a book that she hopes will provide some comfort and guidance.
To her horror, the young mother goes missing the following week. Hazel feels responsible and becomes obsessed with finding her. But the search isn’t the only thing Hazel is juggling. She’s also trying to help the missing woman’s children, evade a young reporter, and deal with the sudden reappearance of an old high school flame.
With all of Hazel’s efforts, can the missing woman be found before it’s too late?

Bottom Line: Hazel Dean is one of the most intriguing cozy mystery heroines I can ever remember reading about. In Longing is Violet Dusk, Hazel’s unique gift of being able to see people’s emotions as colors once again helps her put the pieces together – or at least makes her so curious about people’s reactions that she can’t help but get involved. The first half of the book is really setting the groundwork for the faster-moving second half, a technique that serves the story & the setting well. I loved the North Georgia mountain locale and I wish Hazel’s bookshop was real because I would so drive the two hours to hang out with her. This is a cozy mystery that stays within the formula while also managing to stand out!

What about you? What makes you want to read Longing is Violet Dusk by Josalyn McAllister?
I love a good mystery. Sounds like a good one.
I just read a book “I Spy My Guy” and the actual book that Anna Karenina is the character in, was a major clue in that story! It hadn’t been checked out in the library for over 20 years and the character in the story who checked it out, found written notes left in the book and tracked down the “writer” of those notes! Good story, but funny (and first time) that something in a book I read is mentioned in an entirely different place for an entirely different reason! Books – gotta love ‘um!!!!
looks like a good mystery.
Sounds very good. Thank you for sharing. I loved to Kill A Mockingbird
