Carrie: I think the PNW and I would get along well – especially in winter (Bring on the snow!) haha
Kate: Cats have funny antics that always make me laugh, and they’re fairly low-maintenance.
Carrie: that is true!
Kate: The mountains call to this earth child!
Carrie: the mountains are my happy place, too!
Kate: I love playing cards with friends!
Carrie: we do too!
Q: Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?
Kate: To be able to write books in my sleep.
Carrie: I would love to be able to READ books in my sleep!!
Q: When you walk into a bookstore, where do you head first?
Kate: The historical section. I love, love, love history! Fiction and nonfiction!
Carrie: yes!!!
Q: Writing spaces are as diverse as authors and books. Where is your favorite space to write?
Kate: I have a dormer-room office on the top floor of my house that’s accessed via a spiral staircase. I’m offered a view of our bay from the windows, and there’s a floor-to-ceiling library. I also have an array of Celtic weapons lining one wall. No one messes with me while I’m writing!
Carrie: hahaha!! That sounds absolutely delightful, though – Celtic weapons notwithstanding 😛
Q: If Hollywood wanted to produce In Love’s Time as a movie, who would you want to be cast as the lead roles?
Kate: Oh, I imagine Irish actress Katie McGrath as Clare Danner, and Turkish actor Burak Özçivit as Marcus Weatherford!
Carrie: ooo i like those choices!
Q: Do you have the whole plot outlined before you start writing, or do you let the characters dictate what comes next?
Kate: I usually plot my stories extensively before I start writing. However, my characters have been known to disagree with the way a scene is going and so I try to accommodate them.
Carrie: lol i do not understand that process but i find it fascinating!
Q: What do you most want readers to take away from In Love’s Time?
Kate: I want them to find hope in the knowledge that once we abandon our fears and give ourselves wholly into God’s hands, He will put us on the straight path leading toward peace and true happiness.

And I find the Romanovs fascinating. And I love that the fake fiancee doesn’t turn into a real one, which is what usually happens.. I need to read this book.
