Happy Friday & welcome to the First Line Friday link-up! It’s time to grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line. Today, I’m featuring the first line of Rescuing Her Ranch, the newest contemporary romance from Lisa Jordan and the first book in her Stone River Ranch series!
and the first line is…
Macey was back where she started.
A fight for her future…
Might not be the one she thinks.
Returning home after losing her job, Macey Stone agrees to care for the daughter of old friend Cole Crawford. Then she discovers that Cole’s uncle’s company wants to bulldoze her family’s land. Seeing the devoted dad with his child soon has her falling for the enemy. But can she choose between saving Stone River Ranch…and helping the man who’s stolen her heart?

I have a feeling in this case being back where you started isn’t a good thing.
Hope you enjoy.
The gates of hell are open night and day; Smooth the descent, and easy is the way: But to return, and view the cheerful skies, In this the task and might labor lies. – Virgil, The Aeneid.
This line is from “Before the Big Bang”, the origin of the Universe and What Lies Beyond by Laura Mersini-Houghton. It is a book about quantum fluctuations causing the Multiverse. It was the book next to me.
Struck by sunlight, the sprawling chateau was a blinding, rose-hued white.
The Rose and the Thistle by Laura Franz. I am almost done and once again Laura has written a beautiful story!
Not a bad first line of Rescuing her Ranch! I hope you enjoy this book.
A cry awakes me.

“My pulse pounded in my ears. Me? Learn to fight? My fists were as delicate as porcelain. This had to be a joke.”
