Hi Tina! Welcome to the blog!

Tina: I live in Arizona so my winter may look like your summer. During the winter, the weather here is nice enough to dine on restaurant patios and shop without wishing you had a portable air conditioning unit.

Carrie: living in Georgia, I can understand that!

Tina: I drink coffee with flavored creamer every day – unless hospitalized, which is a rare occurrence. I need a jolt of caffeine to wake up. I am NOT a morning person. My cousin and I joke that our ancestors guarded the cave during the night shift.

Carrie: haha!

Tina: I’m a big fan of Hallmark Movies and Mysteries, especially their cozy mysteries. You might notice scenes with a cozy mystery-type twist when you read my books, especially when the couple in danger is trying to hide.

Carrie: I love their mysteries too! In fact, I’m looking forward to the new one coming on this weekend 🙂

Tina: My favorite vacation spot is a balcony overlooking a California beach. Watching water helps clear my mind and relaxes me, not swimming in the ocean. Jaws scared me to death.

Carrie: that’s how i prefer to do the beach too!

Q: Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?

Tina: That’s a difficult question. I had to read over a list of superpowers before selecting the power of healing. That popped out at me because I’ve reached the age where every gathering of family or friends involves a comparison of ailments, syndromes, and mystery symptoms.

Carrie: healing would be a marvelous superpower to have!

Q: Tell me some good books you’ve read recently.

Tina: I’ve mainly been reading Love Inspired Suspense books for two years now. When you target a Harlequin line, it’s important to know what readers expect and what the editors are buying. Of course, you want to follow up that reading with a story that twists popular hooks in a different way and is written in your unique voice.

Carrie: that’s my favorite kind of research – reading 🙂

Q: What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever Googled while researching a book?

Tina: Yesterday, I Googled how to get rat poison out of the yard. I want to use rat poison in my third Love Inspired Suspense, but I don’t want the dog to get hurt.

Carrie: oh good! I don’t like dogs getting hurt in the books I read… I’m not sure what that says about me when I don’t mind people being murdered in those same books 😛

Q: Did you have the whole plot outlined before you started writing, or did you let the characters dictate what came next?

Tina: I heavily plot each scene before writing. Twenty years ago, I used an entire wall in my dining room. I hung up bulletin board paper and color-coded my sticky notes. For my next book, I’m taping sticky notes to the back of four legal pads.

Carrie: i love sticky notes! they make my office-supply-loving heart happy haha

Q: What do you most want readers to take away from Ranch Under Fire?

Tina: In this story, Bailey learns to forgive herself and others. This helps her move on from the past. God forgives us, but if we don’t also forgive ourselves, it can keep us from living a happy, productive life.

Carrie: amen!

Thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.

Tina: My second Love Inspired Suspense is a follow up book, featuring another Walker brother. Ranch Showdown is Cole’s story and will be available in August.

Thank you so very much for helping me spread the word about my debut inspirational romantic suspense. I have enjoyed my time with you.
