I’m so excited to have author Elizabeth Goddard here today to give us a tour of the setting for her new romantic suspense Missing in Alaska series and the first book, Cold Light of Day! I can’t wait to start this series – my inner polar bear LOVES books set in Alaska 🙂

COLD LIGHT OF DAY by Elizabeth Goddard
SERIES:
Missing in Alaska #1
GENRE: Inspirational Romantic Suspense
PUBLISHER: Revell
RELEASE DATE: February 7, 2023

Police Chief Autumn Long is fighting to keep her job in the quiet Alaska town of Shadow Gap when an unexpected string of criminal activity leaves her with a wounded officer, unexplained murders, and even an attack on her own father. Despite her mistrust of outsiders, she turns to Grier Brenner, a newcomer who seems to have the skills and training Autumn needs to face this threat to her community.

Grier is in Alaska for the same reason so many others are–to disappear–when Chief Long enlists his help. He emerges from the shadows and proves his mettle, but his presence in her life could be a deadly trap for them both. If his secret is exposed, all will be lost. And he’s not sure even Autumn could save him.

As the stakes rise and the dangers increase, Autumn and Grier must rely on each other to extinguish the deadly threats.

Take a Tour of the setting for COLD LIGHT OF DAY

by Elizabeth Goddard, author of Cold Light of Day

Let’s take a tour of the stunning setting for my new series, Missing in Alaska! Book 1, Cold Light of Day, is set in Southeast Alaska also called the Panhandle, which is set off from mainland Alaska. It’s one of the most amazing and beautiful places in the world.

Southeast Alaska is considered a temperate rainforest and includes the Tongass National Forest, the largest National Forest in the U.S!

Southeast Alaska is part of the Inside Passage of waterways twisting through beautiful fjords, including one of the deepest and longest in the world!

On our tour of Southeast Alaska, you’ll see, scenic waterfalls . . .

And glaciers . . .

And mountain upon mountain upon mountain!

Along with a thousand islands.

Whale watching.

A bald eagle reserve.

And last, but certainly not least . . .  the Juneau Icefields.

See, why I was inspired to set a series (or two or three) in Southeast Alaska? This setting has everything an adventure/romance/suspense writer like me could ever want! Even small towns! For my series, I created a small fictional town called Shadow Gap set in a nonexistent fjord up near Haines and just down from Skagway.

I admit my romantic suspense stories lean toward the adventure side, but that’s because I love to showcase God’s Ah-Amazing creation. Publishers Weekly recently reviewed Cold Light of Day and mentioned the setting. “The Alaskan wilderness is a character all its own . . .” and that made me so happy! I wanted to pump my fist. Yes, the setting is always going to be a character in my books!

I hope you get the chance to read Cold Light of Day and join Autumn and Grier as they fight for truth and justice!
