Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Recommend the Most

Posted May 9, 2023 by meezcarrie in Christian, contemporary, historical, mystery/suspense, romance, Top Ten Tuesday / 25 Comments

Happy Tuesday! Today’s theme for Top Ten Tuesday is all about the books I recommend the most. As I was trying desperately to narrow this down, I realized that I tend to recommend by author more than I do by specific book. Because, generally, if I love one book by an author I love all of them. And, for some of the fifteen (I tried for ten, honestly) listed below, I recommend the author a lot too, but these are individual titles that crop up consistently when someone asks me for a book recommendation. In fact, if you’ve talked to me about books and I haven’t recommended one of these then we haven’t talked long enough lol.

What about you? What are some of the books you recommend the most? Have you read any from my list – and did I recommend them to you? (haha!)

  1. I love seeing Newlywed Games on your list! I fell in love with that book when I read it back in the day. But no one seems to have heard of it every time I mention it, even in reader circles! You have such great taste, Carrie. 😉

    • Haley Resseguie

I thought the same thing when I first saw it on her lists a few years ago. I have loved that book for forever but no one else seemed to know it!

  2. TONI SHILOH

Five Days, Johnny Devine, If I Run, and Lady and the LionHeart, are definitely some of my most favorite books. Some of these I haven’t read so I’ll check them out.
    Thanks for loving ISOAP!

  3. Joy

I love that you always have Meant To Be Mine on your list. For me, I recommend True To You the most for Becky Wade. Some of the others that I find myself book bullying people to read: A Noble Masquerade by Kristi Ann Hunter (this book tickles me to no end!); A Rumored Fortune by Joanna Davidson Politano (the lessons I learned about the Vine and branches when it comes to God!); When the Day Comes by Gabrielle Meyer (unlike anything I’ve ever read before!). WWII is one of my favorite eras to read and so (while not CF), I also recommend The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah quite frequently. And Be Frank With Me by Julia Claiborne Johnson (also not CF).

  4. Fabulous list, Carrie! Once I finished mine I wondered how I missed putting a Jaime Jo Wright book on it!! I highlighted several of these authors as well.

    • Oh thank you! That means a lot ❤️ I know you don’t do a lot of historical but I think you’d like The Mistletoe Countess. And Pepper’s contemporary romances are all fabulous too – her newest is Authentically, Izzy which I think you’d like too ☺️

  5. Patty

I’ve read 8 of the 15, and have at least one of the others (maybe more) on my shelf!

Like you I am more likely to recommend authors over particular books.

  6. Ugh!! Why did I look??😥😥Now I need to make another list, find them all and get them read! I’m still writing and hunting down the ones from your new releases post for May! Okay of all of these, which one do you suggest I start with?😂📚💜

    • LOL LOL. Turnabout’s fair play though, i guess, after your last question haha. Start with The Mistletoe Countess (but you can’t go wrong with any of them)

  7. Cathe Swanson

I’ve read a lot of those books (and enjoyed them!)
Safely Home is my #1 recommendation, too. What a powerful book!

  8. Haley Resseguie

I have read 13 of the 18. I own 3 of the ones I haven’t read yet (Alcorn upon your rec, Barratt, and Wright) and I am now adding two more books to my wish list (The Memoirs of Johnny Devine and An Endless Christmas).
I also recommend by author because I love so many of their books. People ask me all the time who my favorite author is or what my favorite book is. That’s like asking which of my kids is my favorite! I have so many favorites!

  9. I told myself I could only choose one! Since my tbr pile is soooo large. 🙂 Thank goodness, I had already read three. 🙂 And I can’t read too many romances. I just need the suspense in there to keep my attention and give my mind a puzzle to solve. However….I did pick a romance. Five Days in Skye. 🙂 Sent to my Kindle!
