FALLING IN LOVE ON SWEETWATER LANE by Belle Calhoune
SERIES:
Mistletoe, Maine #3
GENRE: Contemporary Romance (Clean)
PUBLISHER: Forever
RELEASE DATE: February 21, 2023
PAGES: 291

In this sweet romance, will a big-city veterinarian give this small town—and the single dad who’s caught her heart—a chance?

Veterinarian Harlow Jones knew returning to small-town life, even temporarily, would be a disaster. She just never guessed it would start that way—with her car skidding off the road outside Mistletoe, Maine. And while her rescuer is both charming and handsome, Harlow isn’t about to get involved with a local. She’s in town for one reason only—to pay off her vet school bills—and then she’s back to her real life in Seattle.

Nick Keegan knows all about unexpected, life-altering detours. He lost his wife in the blink of an eye, and he’s spent the years since being the best single dad he can be. He’s also learned not to take anything for granted, so when sparks start to fly with Harlow, Nick is all in. He senses Harlow feels it too, but she insists romance isn’t on her agenda. He’ll have to pull out all the stops to show her that love is worth changing the best-laid plans.

memories in maine

by Belle Calhoune, author of Falling in Love on Sweetwater Lane

Road trips have always been a big part of my life. Although my own kids always preferred flying, I adore a good road trip. As a child my parents would pack up their five children and hit the road from our home in Massachusetts. Cape Cod. Virginia. New Hampshire. Atlanta. Disney World. And Maine. Glorious, beautiful Maine.

My memories of our summer vacation to Maine are still with me after all these years. Lobsters and lighthouses. Digging for clams in the sand and finding magical pieces of sea glass by the ocean. We stayed at a lovely bed and breakfast by the beach. Mornings were filled with blueberry pancakes in the New England style dining room. Beach time was essential, with golden sands and ice cold Maine waters. Because my family had a summer home in Cape Cod we weren’t used to this type of frigid water. It took some getting used to and I remember chattering teeth and blue lips.

Writing my Mistletoe, Maine series has allowed me to express my love for Maine through my characters and the gorgeous setting. Maine reminds me of being in a large, boisterous family where love always reigned supreme. I’ve grown to love my fictional town of Mistletoe and my characters who find love in the most unexpected ways. A town librarian. A Hollywood actor. A single dad. A veterinarian. A former Navy Seal. A teacher. I love them all. And I love writing small town romance, especially in a sweet New England towns.

Last summer we vacationed in Kennebunk, Maine. We had a fabulous time and I was able to revisit Maine through the lens of an adult. The people in Maine were so friendly and open. A visit to a local library was so much fun and the librarian gave me a tour of the children’s wing. There were fabulous murals based on literary characters. We also discussed my Mistletoe series and I gave her a copy of Summer on Blackberry Beach.

This summer we’re planning a road trip to Cape Cod for August. Hoping for blue skies, yummy seafood and lots of memories to take home with us.
