BUTTERMILK PIE RECIPE

Also called DEPRESSION PIE OR POOR MAN’S PIE

(US units)

Ingredients

• 3 eggs
• 1 ½ cups white sugar
• ½ cup butter, softened
• 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
• 1 cup buttermilk
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• ⅛ teaspoon nutmeg
• 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. Beat eggs until frothy. Add sugar, butter, and flour and beat until smooth.
3. Stir in buttermilk, vanilla, and nutmeg. Pour into pie shell.
4. Bake until center is firm, 40 to 60 minutes.

Remove from the oven and cool for 1 hour before serving.
