ABOUNDING HOPE by Cindy Kay Stewart
SERIES: Circle of Hope #1
GENRE: Historical WW2 Romance (Christian)
PUBLISHER: Hope Springs Press LLC
RELEASE DATE: October 3, 2023
PAGES: 423

Poland’s looming defeat forces an American teacher to escape with children wanted by the Nazis.

It’s late August, 1939, and the world is on the brink of war. The Nazis are threatening Poland, but American teacher Irena Simmons refuses to flee to safety. She’s dedicated her life to serving in her church and school, and she’s watching over the little German boys she whisked to safety the year before. When her former classmate, Jonathan, surprises her in Lvov and insists she leave with him before the war starts, Irena balks. Nothing will interfere with her work—especially a man making demands.

American shipping magnate Jonathan Huntwell had a crush on Irena in school. When their former classmates select him to travel to Poland and escort her out before it’s too late, he doesn’t expect the inner turmoil she ignites in him. Although honor-bound to aid any friend in trouble, Jonathan acknowledges that Irena is more than an obligation to him. However, he must keep his feelings hidden, or he’ll jeopardize their friendship.

Irena soon discovers that the Gestapo agent she successfully evaded in Germany has found her in Poland, and he’s after her young charges. When the Germans invade, Jonathan is in Denmark on business, too far away to help. As the rising danger threatens everything Irena holds dear, she must find a way to protect those she loves.

Based on true events and backed by extensive research, Abounding Hope is sure to delight fans of WWII adventure cloaked in sweet romance. Come to the place where the war began and discover hope in the darkest places.

Cindy Kay Stewart interview

Hi Cindy! Welcome to the blog!

Cindy: Summer – I’m cold-natured. I love the green of summer, warm rain, and long days.

Carrie: i am the exact opposite haha

Cindy: Definitely over for toilet paper. It tears nicely when it rolls over. Otherwise, half the paper can roll off before it will tear.

Carrie: a valid point!

Cindy: I love the ocean. It speaks peace to my soul. I love the sand beneath my feet and the water when it’s warm.

Carrie: I don’t care for the sand but the sound of the ocean speaks to my soul, too!

Cindy: Once I started reading ebooks, I found I enjoyed the larger type, the bright screen, and the ability to read myself to sleep at night without keeping a light/lamp on.

Carrie: yes! me too!

Q: Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?

Cindy: Teaching new skills to myself and others

Carrie: a valuable superpower to have 🙂

Q: When you walk into a bookstore, where do you head first?

Cindy: the Historical section (both fiction and non-fiction)

Carrie: I love hanging out there too!

Q: If I asked your characters to describe YOU as an author, what would they say?

Cindy: Cindy insists everyone must do what she says—she likes to be the boss. She wants everyone and everything to line up and follow like ducks in a row.

Carrie: haha!

Q: Which character in Abounding Hope was the most difficult to write?

Cindy: Irena was the most difficult character to write because her personality is different from my own. I had to be careful I didn’t make her think and act the same way I would in given situations.

Carrie: i hadn’t thought about that before, but i bet that would be challenging

Q: Were there any songs that inspired you as you wrote Abounding Hope?

Cindy: I was inspired by a number of orchestrated soundtracks (without lyrics) and was a great deal more productive when this music was playing. It put me in the mood, time, and place to spark my imagination and the appropriate emotions. Some of the songs I listened to:

“Moon River”
”Heart of A Volunteer”
“Chariots of Fire”
”Out of Africa”
“Try to Remember”
“When I Fall in Love”
“Tara’s Theme”
“Bring Him Home”
“Warsaw Concerto”
“All I Ask of You”
“Music of the Night”
“Edelweiss”

Carrie: those are all so lovely!

Q: What do you most want readers to take away from Abounding Hope?

Cindy: Don’t give up. Never lose hope. Surrender your plans to the Lord and allow Him to work all things together for good in your life.

Carrie: amen ♥

Thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.

Cindy: A prequel short story set in Warsaw about Piotr and Teresa—two minor characters from Abounding Hope.

A prequel novella set in Berlin about two characters who work at the U.S. Consulate. Irena and her little German boys are introduced.

A sequel set in Norway and France at the time of the German invasions of those countries in 1940. Natalie and David, two minor characters from Abounding Hope, are major characters. Irena and Jonathan and the children’s stories will continue.

A captivating, profound, meaningful treasure. World War 2 novels are my favorite as they are memorable and unforgettable. The bravery and courage of individuals is extraordinary.

This book sounds wonderful, and I don’t know who designed this book cover but it’s one of the most beautiful covers I’ve ever seen. 😊💗📚

I don’t remember ever reading WWII fiction set in Poland, so that will be a refreshing change. This book will be an engrossing read.
