A Bunch of Series Set in Georgia

Happy Tuesday! For today’s Top Ten Tuesday ‘book setting’ prompt, I decided to look at a bunch of series that are set in Georgia… and a handful of standalone titles I’ve enjoyed that are set here too. And by ‘bunch’, I mean ‘however many I can think of’ – sticking to ten is a distant suggestion lol.

I’ve long loved the state of Georgia – in fact, I have deep roots here, even though I’ve only lived here for three years. My great-great grandfather I. R. Booth was a circuit riding preacher from South Carolina who started several churches in southeastern Georgia in the mid 1840s, finally settling there to pastor one of those churches in the town of Manor. That church was originally named the Philadelphia Methodist Episcopal Church South but has changed names several times over the years before it became Victory Methodist Church, the name it still uses today where it sits on Booth Church Road – 177 years later. I.R. Booth had a whopping 20 children so there are a LOT of people in southeastern Georgia with my maiden name lol.

Anyway, enough about me. On to the series that are set in Georgia! The locations represented here range from the mountains to the city of Atlanta to the southern coast – and the small towns in between. They also represent a variety of genres – contemporary romance, historical romance, cozy mystery, romantic suspense, and women’s fiction.

  1. Becky’s novels are always favorite reads of mine. So charming and lovely. I read one of Rachel’s and I really need to read some of Denise’s more recent releases. Hers used to be books I really enjoyed. 🙂 Also, fun share about your family and the ties to the state. 🙂

    I love the southern settings!
Lisa Harris – Southern Crimes series set in Atlanta is another great one

  3. I’ve read a few of these – can’t get enough of Becky Wade and Denise Hunter! Great series — but the “grandmother” of all series set in Georgia? EUGENIA PRICE! Savannah Quartet, St. Simons Trilogy, and the Georgia Trilogy! I gobbled those up as a teen and young adult!

What a fun post, Carrie! I grew up on the opposite southern side of the state. I have read Denise Hunter’s series, Natalie Walters’ series, some of Becky Wade’s series, the standalones by Cindy and Erin Woodsmall, Terri Blackstock, Collen Coble, and Carrie Stuart Parks and have some of the others to read. I recommend for anyone interested that Eugenia Price has written some wonderful books about coastal Georgia as well. She lived on St. Simons Island where Christ Church has been featured in her books and others, such as the Royal Wedding Series by Rachel Hauck set on St. Simons Island.

  5. I LOVE your family history shared here, that is awesome!! What a legacy! I have been to Atlanta a few times, so I have enjoyed my visits to Georgia! Great post, lots of great books on your list.

Wow. There’s a lot more books set in Georgia than I thought. I’m interested in the Georgia coast romance series by Liz Johnson. However, finding paper copies is proving to be difficult. Christianbook, my usual go to, will not send them to Canada for some reason. I have one of the Becky Wade books that I bought on that website (that’s on your list) and I look forward to reading it soon!
