When Ella Hayden moves to Hallburg, Maryland, with her six-year-old daughter, Joy, Ella hopes to find a new job. She is excited to be in her cousin’s wedding and move into her apartment. But she doesn’t expect an encounter with her cousin’s old two-timing boyfriend, Tony Zanetti, or the job offer in his family’s restaurant.

Tony’s life has taken a turn for the worse with the loss of his finance job and his fiancée. He wants to help his mom make the family restaurant a viable operation, but he doesn’t want this gig long term. When Ella asks him to adopt a cute puppy in hopes that Joy will eventually love it, he agrees—in his efforts to be a better person.

As Tony and Ella interact, he fears falling for another woman too fast, and Ella is leery of his track record with women. Will Joy be able to bring Tony and her mom together with the help of a cute pup?

The Christmas season is upon us. Tomorrow I start counting down on my advent calendar. My Christmas decorations are already up. I often start decorating right after Thanksgiving, but this year, my Christmas tree sans ornaments was up at the end of October. You can see it in the photo above. I had ordered a new tree, and it came very quickly. We needed to set it up to make sure it worked. I wasn’t going to put it up, then take it down again. So it has been sitting in the corner for weeks undecorated. I finally put ornaments on it when my granddaughters came for Thanksgiving.

Christmas is definitely my favorite holiday. I enjoy writing stories that center on Christmas. My current release, Puppy Love and Christmas Joy, is the fourth book in my Happiness in Hallburg series. It is now on sale for 99 cents through Christmas. All the books in the series take place during the Christmas holidays. The books can be read without reading the others, but it can be fun to revisit my imaginary town of Hallburg, Maryland.

My older daughter lives in Baltimore City, and I decided to set these books in Maryland in a small town near Baltimore City. My characters can visit the city to take in some of the sights, such as the aquarium and the harbor. It is fun to make up a town but have a real city nearby.

Each book features at least one child and a puppy. The children and the pup help reluctant couples to find love and Christmas blessings. Who can resist a cute kid and a cuddly dog? You can learn more about the series by visiting my website. Just click on this link.

I like puppies and I like to read Christmas stories in December, so I would like to read Puppy Love and Christmas Joy by Merrillee Whren.

  2. Janice Moore

I like parades in a small town. With these books, I like having descriptions of well-known places mentioned, so I can learn more about them.

  3. Anne

A beautiful story filled with puppies and joy. A small town would be wonderful. The delightful and captivating businesses on main street that are decorated and warm.

  4. Sue Parrish

You can’t beat a book with a cute kid, a cute puppy and Christmas. I think I would like the celebration traditions in a small town and how they usually care for each other.

  5. Julie Waldron

The cover is so cute! I grew up in a small town, my favorite thing about Christmas in a small town is the closeness of the community.

  6. Deborah D

The blurb, the cover and the fact that it is a Christian romance all make me want to read this book.

  7. Leslie Price

I love Christmas in my small town because everyone goes all out to decorate their homes and businesses, and there’s a big effort to collect food and gifts for our less fortunate community members.

  8. Judith Martinez

This sounds like a slow romance where the characters take time to grow and I like that. My favorite thing about the Christmas celebrations in the small town where we lived for 3 years was the annual parade.

  9. Miri

My life is pretty busy and stressful, so I love escaping into a story with a 99%-guaranteed happy ending 🙂
