by Aminata Coote, author of A Husband for Christmas

Christmas, anyone?

I love this holiday and it’s probably my favorite time of the year, which is why I was ecstatic when Carrie invited me to guest post on her blog.

Oh, I should introduce myself.

My name is Mackenzie Porter. I’m an air attendant and I love my job. The only part I don’t like about what I do is that it sometimes takes me away from home during the holidays.

But not this year.

This year, the plan is to stay home with my twin sister, Madison. We’re going to eat all of our favorite foods. I’ll bake a fruit cake, and we’ll stay up late watching Christmas movies.

And every morning, we’ll read a brief portion of the Christmas story from the Bible.

We’ll pretend that I’m not running away after a disastrous incident with one of my clients on my last flight. That I didn’t completely embarrass myself in front of the handsome billionaire. Ugh.

What were we talking about?

Oh, yeah, Christmas.

I love the way people are kinder at this time of the year. The way families make an effort to come together to celebrate the season.

But most of all, I love the reminder of what Jesus did for us.

We deserved death, but He died in our place. Who does that? Only God who loved us too much to think about the cost to Himself.

So, yes, I love Christmas. And this year, I plan to spend it hiding out, er, I mean relaxing with my sister in our childhood home.

What are your plans for Christmas?
