FALL WHEN YOU’RE READY by Jennifer Carr
SERIES: Real American Country #1
GENRE: Contemporary Romance (Clean)
PUBLISHER: JCarr Writes
RELEASE DATE: February 1, 2024
Rachel never wanted to get in the way of Jordan’s dreams, but they were supposed to chase their dreams together. They made promises and swore to remain best friends through it all. But, just as all good things must come to an end, it would seem that applies to promises as well. When Rachel and Jordan end up on separate paths toward their own versions of success, they each learn the hard way that letting go is easier than it sounds. But when those paths bring them both home, all of those promises come flooding back and they have to decide whether it’s worth the risk to reopen the chapter they closed on their story so long ago.
Hi Jennifer! Welcome to the blog!
Jennifer: Winter! I love all things warm and cozy and I hate sweating 😅 Also, Winter = Christmas and I live for Christmas. My tree goes up as close to November 1st as my schedule will allow. We leave it off on Thanksgiving Day but it stays on well before and well after Christmas!
Carrie: i am totally with you about winter and Christmas! I love both! (And I also hate sweating haha)
Jennifer: Coffee 🤎 I started drinking coffee around age 16 and haven’t stopped. And I love trying coffees from different countries. My favorite is from the Dominican Republic but there’s some emotional attachment there. Kenya is a very close second. I drink it black and the darker the better.
Carrie: I want to love coffee but alas… too bitter for me.
Jennifer: Ocean. I grew up at the beach and would return there in a heartbeat if someone would pay for me to live there (insurance is WILD!). I love a good trip to the mountains, but you cannot beat the sounds and smells on the sand while watching the waves crash.
Carrie: I prefer the mountains BUT if someone was going to pay for me to live at the ocean I would not complain lol
Jennifer: E-Book. I discovered the magic of Kindle Unlimited a couple of years ago (much to my husband’s chagrin 😆). I also love that I don’t have to keep one more thing in my Mary Poppins bag of a purse in order to have a book with me!
Carrie: haha same!!
Q: Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?
Jennifer: Mindreading. I hate not knowing what people are thinking!
Carrie: that could be a valuable superpower… and a dangerous one lol
Q: Tell me some good books you’ve read recently.
Jennifer: OK, here are my last four(ish) High Rated Reads (in no particular order):
- Heidi Lucy Loses Her Mind by Gracie Ruth Mitchell (honorable mention: Juniper Bean Resorts to Murder by GRM is also phenomenal)
- Andy and the Extroverts by Jessica K Foster (I love a good summer camp story)
- Katie Bailey’s Donovan Family Series (So That Happened is my favorite so far)
- Assistant to the Villain by Hanna Nicole Maehrer I RARELY go into a book blind but I went into this one with zero knowledge or expectations and adored it. I was so sad to learn the sequel was over a year away!
Carrie: how have i not heard of any of these? Will have to look them up 😀
Q: f I asked your characters to describe YOU as an author, what would they say?
Jennifer: “This woman has no idea what is happening right now!” 😆 And they’re probably right. I don’t plan my stories, they just kind of happen in my brain like a movie and I try to write and keep up!
Q: Were there any songs that inspired you as you wrote Fall When You’re Ready?
Jennifer: The title actually comes from a song! I am a sucker for 90s Country music. Brantley Gilbert sings a song called Fall Into Me and one line says, “Fall When You’re Ready, babe…” One day the song came on the radio and all of a sudden these two characters popped into my head and said, “Hey! This is our song!” I pulled out my phone, started leaving a note to myself using voice to text, got home and interpreted it the best I could, and a little over a year later, here we are!
Carrie: i love that!
Q: Some authors like to hide little things in their stories. Is there anything you have hidden in Fall When You’re Ready?
Jennifer: They aren’t really hidden but one of my favorite inclusions are the double bonus epilogues. They are “excerpts” from the books Rachel set out to write and brought on her success as an author. I got so lost in that second fictional world that I was almost tempted to make it a real series…
Carrie: ooo that’s fun!
Q: What is one of your favorite quotes from the book & why do you love it?
Jennifer: Oh, man! So, one of my favorite parts of writing Fall When You’re Ready was writing the short snippets between chapters. Some of them are “lyrics” written by the male main character Jordan whose stage name is Christopher Jordan. Others are taken from “an anthology” put together by our sweet female main character Rachel Redmayer – who happens to be an author. Hers were my favorite to write. This one can be found right before chapter 58 and is at the top of my list of favorites:
It is in the process of rebuilding that we discover our capacity for change, our willingness to learn from our mistakes, and the strength to mend what was once broken.
Carrie: that’s a great quote!
Thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.
Jennifer: Thank you! This was FUN. I definitely answered questions I’d never been asked before.
I am cruising through book two of the Real American Country Series. It’s a little over halfway written and I actually started on book three because I had characters show up unannounced needing to be heard!
