Case of the Bayfront Murder

SERIES: A Macaroni on Wheels Mystery #1
GENRE: Cozy Mystery (Clean)
PUBLISHER: Independently Published
RELEASE DATE: March 27, 2024
PAGES: 262

Little Italy in San Diego, once a thriving fishing community, has blossomed into a prominent tourist destination. Nestled in the heart of this vibrant neighborhood, both travelers and residents find the Tiepolo Mercato a favorite spot to stop and shop. Ezio and Benedette Tiepolo are the proprietors of the Mercato, while their daughter owns Macaroni on Wheels, the catering company located directly next door.

There’s more than pasta cooking in the Macaroni on Wheels kitchen. Meet Terza Tiepolo, a feisty Italian caterer who fills her free time solving crime. She belongs to a local murder mystery book club, and leads the other participants in their monthly whodunnit contest.

Terza also works diligently to grow her catering business. But when a prominent doctor hires Terza’s company to cater a dinner party, she never expects murder to be on the menu. The prestigious bayfront event should enhance the Macaroni on Wheels portfolio, and Terza anticipates meeting many potential new clients. On the day of the party, Terza arrives early to prepare, only to discover her grand expectations are as dead as the body on the kitchen floor.

Fans of cozy mysteries will revel in solving the murder along with Terza, and will appreciate her zest for life. Readers will also treasure the introduction to her vibrant Italian relatives. They will enjoy getting to know the Tiepolo family, and will smile at the special relationship Terza has with her mother and father. The fun never stops when the animated relatives join together each Sunday for dinner. Consider this your personal invitation!

SK Derban guest post

a setting tour: san diego & little italy

by S.K. Derban, author of Case of the Bayfront Murder

Photo Stop 1 – Coronado Bay Bridge. In the opening scene of Case of the Bayfront Murder, Terza and her best friend, Moheenie are attending a meeting of the San Diego Murder Mystery Book Club. The monthly meeting is held in a downtown high-rise office building with an expansive view of the San Diego Bay and the Coronado Bay Bridge. Fun Fact; Alexandra, heroine of the Uneven Exchange novel, lives in Coronado on Bay Bridge drive.

Photo Stop 2 – Downtown San Diego Skyline. The tall, all-glass building with the slanted roof is home to the San Diego Murder Mystery Book Club. It is held in the twenty-fourth floor conference room. No wonder the views are spectacular!

Photo Stop 3 – Little Italy Sign. The iconic Little Italy Sign welcomes residents and visitors to the enchanting neighborhood. Little Italy is filled with patio cafés, restaurants, pubs, art galleries, shops, hotels, and the Macaroni on Wheels catering company. The Tiepolo Mercato is located just steps from this famous sign, and Terza’s catering company is directly next door.

Photo Stop 4 – Buon Appetito San Diego Italian Restaurant. This is Terza’s favorite restaurant, and where she enjoys Risotto Alla Piemontese, one of her favorite Italian dishes. The menu describes it as an Italian Arborio rice with porcini mushrooms and asparagus tips, drizzled with truffle oil, and served in a parmesan nest. Yum!

Photo Stop 5 – Solunto Restaurant and Bakery. Terza and Detective Nicholas Garza enjoy gelato at this exceptional Little Italy Bakery. The gelato is made fresh every morning! It is the best in all of Little Italy!
