Hello ladies and lords! After this week’s Top Ten Tuesday post on Books Set Outside the U.S. – in which I purposely left out England too – a couple of my dear reading friends still bemoaned England’s absence.  I am nothing if not accommodating, but it really needed its […]

Heroes.

Just the word brings about images of tall, strong, and swoony men emerging into a story with enough testosterone to encourage a primal growl from the purist of prudes. Okay, so some heroes might encourage more of a quiet sigh as their tenderness, touch of tease, and/or quiet strength wrap around your heart like a constant hug…from nice strong arms.

A strong heroine. A cheeky hero. Electric chemistry. A bit of Robin Hood-esque adventure. Add these to Jody Hedlund’s talent, and you have a fantastic new read for young adults! Adults too, for that matter. (I say this on good authority, as I have not been a ‘young adult’ in quite some time and I thoroughly enjoyed this read.)

Top Ten Tuesday: KissingBooks 101 Lesson Two (plus a HUGE Giveaway!)

Posted February 9, 2016 / 352 Comments

I. Am. SO EXCITED. As soon as I saw that today’s Top Ten Tuesday topic was a Valentine’s KissingBooks Day freebie, I knew immediately what my post would be about. Way back in August, I wrote my KissingBooks 101 post and it remains one of my most popular/highest viewed posts. But since then I have discovered some additionally swoon-worthy KissingBooks – or remembered some that I forgot about when I was writing the first lesson. I’ve had several people ask me to do another KissingBooks 101, and I am nothing if not accommodating when it comes to this topic 😉

This week’s topic has several possible variations but I’m choosing to talk about my favorite historical settings. You know, those periods of history whose mere mention in a book blurb has your radar engaged and your interest piqued.

I am so excited to chat today with author Jody Hedlund! Her newest book, Undaunted Hope, tells the story of Tessa Taylor, a teacher in for an unwelcome surprise when she arrives at her new job. Set in 1870s Upper Peninsula, Michigan, it’s full of romance and vivid characters and history. With a little sass and suspense thrown in for good measure 😉 Watch for a review here in the next couple of weeks!

When I first started “Favorites Friday”, my intention was to pull books out of my archives, dust them off, and share with you my undying love for them.  That hasn’t entirely gone as planned. Why? Because there are SO MANY GOOD BOOKS.  I keep finding new favorites.  My blog, my […]
