Buckley and Bogey, Cat Detectives, find their next big case with the Buckley and Bogey Cat Detective Agency to be their most difficult yet. It all starts one hot summer day, when the boys are sitting in the front window of their Mom’s antique store. That’s when they see a big, black limo crawling up the street and going right through downtown St. Gertrude. So who is in that long, black car? None other than famous movie star, Steele Bronson! And his surprise arrival sends the entire town into a tizzy!
The Perfectly Proper Paranormal Museum is unique, well-written, and fun! The quirky museum, the array of likable characters, a curiously intuitive cat, and a ghost who may have been wrongly accused – these elements all give a creative twist to the usual cozy mystery formula.
North of Here is a story of contrasts and characters. Of two men. Of two women. Of those born into wealth but walking around poor in spirit. Of those personalities who are self-sufficient and of the ones who always seem to need a rescue.
Dani Pettrey’s first offering in her new series is inventive, action-packed, and extremely well-written. Cold Shot bursts onto the scene with brilliant suspense and compelling characters that make it nearly impossible to put down. In fact, if you are at all prone to biting your nails when tensions are high, you may need to schedule a manicure once you’ve finished reading this novel!
Lynette Eason’s latest suspense offering is fast-paced, action-packed, and full of grace. Her writing talent is more than evident in the natural dialogue, the tension, the vivid characters. While romance is definitely present in the story, it never overshadows the suspense, making this an ideal choice both for people who do love kissingbooks and those who don’t.
With her lyrical ability to turn a phrase, Normandie Fischer has become a new favorite author for me. The characters develop naturally throughout the course of the story, particularly Tony and Rina who both sharpen their own personal identities despite (perhaps because of) the challenges they face at every turn.
A Freegan, a bit of a soap opera, and a teeth-grinding detective all walk into a recycling center. What do you get? Deirdre Verne’s latest mystery, Drawing Blood.
This book is perhaps the best suspense novel I’ve ever read. And I don’t say that lightly. I’ve read a lot of suspense novels. I’ve loved a lot of suspense novels. I will love a lot of suspense novels in the future. But … there’s just something really special about this one.
Thin Ice may very well be my favorite yet of Irene Hannon’s romantic suspense offerings. The romance, the suspense, the action, the characters – and their interactions with each other – are all just top-notch. This is definitely a novel I will keep on my favorites shelf to reread.
Fans of historical fiction – particularly in a frontier setting – will enjoy this latest collaboration between Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse. The characters alone make this well worth the read, and the thread of suspense just adds to the overall appeal. An enjoyable way to pass an evening or two
If you’ve spent half a second around me or my blog, you know how much I adore Melanie Dickerson’s fairy tale retellings. You also probably know how much I adore Regency fiction, especially those books that make my Jane-Austen-loving heart smile. Combine Melanie Dickerson and Regency fiction?!? Yep. I’m pretty much on cloud 9.
Alana Terry is a very unique writing voice in Christian suspense fiction. She’s not afraid to tackle the tough stuff, and the faith element is very strong. However, don’t mistake “very strong” for “preachy” or “political”. In fact, just about the time I thought it could cross over into preachy territory, the author threw in a curve ball that kept the character and the story from becoming a caricature.
WOW! Colleen Coble is one of my go-to romantic suspense authors for a reason! Between Mermaid Moon and The Inn at Ocean’s Edge (the first book in the Sunset Cove series), I have been spellbound for the past two days & on the edge of my seat from the suspense!
This week’s edition of “Top Ten Tuesday” (hosted as always by The Broke and the Bookish) is brought to you by those books I meant to read in 2015 but …umm… didn’t.
I’m looking at you, 2016.
The Year of the TBR pile.
While The Suspect’s Daughter can easily be read as a stand-alone novel (I read this fourth book first and had no problems following along), the characters are much better appreciated when seen through the lens of the preceding books in the ROGUE HEARTS series. Donna Hatch graciously gave me copies of those first three books so I could catch up with all of Grant’s brothers. I’m going to do a mini-review for each one in a second, but let me just say about the whole series – WOW! Keep. Your. Fans. (and freezers) Nearby. All 4 books are a KissingBook Level 5
