WOW! Colleen Coble is one of my go-to romantic suspense authors for a reason! Between Mermaid Moon and The Inn at Ocean’s Edge (the first book in the Sunset Cove series), I have been spellbound for the past two days & on the edge of my seat from the suspense!

All week here on the blog, I’m talking about the books coming out in the first half of 2016. Monday, I gave you my contemporary “can’t waits”, Tuesday was the historicals’ turn.
Today I am pleased to present my list of the mystery/suspense books I’m most excited about from January to June 2016!
The suspense will keep you riveted, the romance will leave you grinning, and the characters will have you wanting more time with them. A nice, quick read that certainly doesn’t sacrifice on quality, Her Holiday Protector is perfect for fans of romantic suspense.
Two of my very favorite Colleen Coble series are the Lonestar & Hope Beach books. So you can imagine how excited I was to read these two novellas that continue the settings and spotlight some secondary characters from the novels.
Shelley Gray’s brilliantly crafted mystery trilogy is perfect for romantic suspense fans, especially those that lean toward the historical. (Not the hysterical, mind you. Let’s save our swooning for the kisses!) The recurring theme of people being more than what they appear resonates through all 3 books and is most perfectly illustrated in the comparison to the buildings constructed for the World’s Fair. Characters whose lives seem “outwardly impressive” are proven to be “structurally unsound” while the reverse is also true just as frequently. An entertaining and compelling reminder that, while we so often look no further than the outside, God sees our hearts.
Susan Sleeman takes a small amount of space and fills it up with high-caliber action, suspense and romance until you forget you are reading a shorter-length novel. Her First Response Squad reminds me in all the best ways of Dee Henderson’s O’Malley family (there’s a crossover idea for a publisher somewhere!). I just can’t say enough good things about these books – get them. read them. You’ll love them.
If you’re a fan of Irene Hannon and Lynette Eason, then you need to be reading Susan Sleeman’s books as well. Top-notch suspense, well-developed characters, and breath-stealing romance all wrapped up in a quick read that maintains the quality of a longer-length novel.
I had been meaning to read some of Nancy Mehl’s books for a while now. But… well… my TBR pile is so out of control I fear it will never be tamed. So when the opportunity came along to review Rising Darkness, the third in her Finding Sanctuary series, I took the time to read the first two books as well.
I’m so glad I did!
