Review (and a Giveaway!): If I Run by Terri Blackstock

Posted February 4, 2016 / 13 Comments

This book is perhaps the best suspense novel I’ve ever read. And I don’t say that lightly. I’ve read a lot of suspense novels. I’ve loved a lot of suspense novels. I will love a lot of suspense novels in the future. But … there’s just something really special about this one.

Review: Paralyzed by Alana Terry

Review: Paralyzed by Alana Terry

Posted January 15, 2016 / 3 Comments

Alana Terry is a very unique writing voice in Christian suspense fiction. She’s not afraid to tackle the tough stuff, and the faith element is very strong. However, don’t mistake “very strong” for “preachy” or “political”. In fact, just about the time I thought it could cross over into preachy territory, the author threw in a curve ball that kept the character and the story from becoming a caricature.

Review: Hiding Places by Erin Healy

Review: Hiding Places by Erin Healy

Posted December 3, 2015 / 2 Comments

Erin Healy’s engaging writing voice and the riveting suspense will make the book difficult to put down. But the lack of redemptive development and the plethora of difficult-to-like characters may leave you dissatisfied once you’ve turned the last page. Still, I have no problem at all recommending it to fans of suspense, especially people like me who enjoy Diane Chamberlain or Kristen Heitzmann. It’s a well-written book, just not my favorite 🙂
